No it is made in Taiwan. I trust the quality of products coming from Taiwan and not China. Also in case it is not known, Taiwan is not China.

Answers

It will pick up anything that it was designed for (nails, sheet metal, screws, etc.) I did test it, just to see how much it would pick up, and it lifted an 8 lb, 5 oz trailor hitch.

can I use this clean sweep in grass to pic up nails

Asked by michelle March 9, 2016

Yes, it will pick up nails in grass. However, you will need to drag it backwards, as the wheels will not help to support it in grass. Also, the magnet needs to pass within an inch and a half of the nail, so the grass cannot be too tall.

What is the diameter of the wheels?

We're adding an addition to our house. The crew drops nails, screws, wire, and broken bits allover the place. I bought this tool to clean up the metal before it works itself too deep into the dirt. Every weekend I roll the sweeper over the jobsite and it picks up everything metal. If I see metal the tool picks it up and even if I don't see it the tool still finds metal and holds on. There is nothing this magnet can't pick up, even foot long pieces of rebar. The photo shows what it picked up in just one sweep across their work area. I collect this much metal every weekend.

The product seems ok other than the wheels. We never got to use ours since one of the hard plastic, thin wheels arrived broken in the un-damaged box. Hopefully, the wheel did not break in the box during shipment, meaning the cardboard box that it was shipped in was stronger. But the alternative meaning was that they shipped us a broken item. Regardless, I ordered a different model with rubber wheels since this was planned for use on an asphalt parking lot (Customer Service was great on the return and reorder). The wheels are more suited for a shop or garage with smooth concrete flooring.

Works great!
I just had my roof replaced and I’ve also got another major construction project going on at my home. This sweep did an excellent job of finding all kinds of nails and screws stuck in my deck, the grass and shrubs and along my driveway. The magnet is pretty strong and even picked up a big u-bolt without issue. I ran it through my shop too and tested it in piles of sawdust. Worked great there too! The good thing about a rolling magnetic sweep is that the magnet height is always static. You don’t have to worry about trying to swing a magnet at a low enough level to catch the nails. The whole tool collapses down to a pretty small size and can easily be stored away on a peg board or a nail in the wall. The base is also adjustable and the angle can be changed to accommodate different heights and handle angles. I found that it’s more effective to pull the tool across uneven surfaces than push it.

Can't beat for the price
We have both a welding and a wood shop, and this little guy works fantastic to clean up the small metal pieces in our welding shop. It is smaller than the large industrial versions so it won't work as well out in the dirt but for a concrete shop floor it is perfect. We use a steel brush to clean the magnet off into the trash. The handle on this one telescopes out for when you're using it and in for compact storage. Great little gadget for a gift idea for anyone with a shop.

After 2 flat tires from fencing staples created from my neighbors new fence. i decided to take matters in my own hands. I picked up over 25 random nails just between our house and theirs. It was a great investment. Kept the peace and avoided AAA calls for rescue.
