How to read the gradient . where the bubble should b How to read the gradient level

Asked by Loaf July 26, 2020

All bubble levels should have the bubble centered in the vial. This level has a feature that helps determine how far out of level the object you are checking. The markings allow you to adjust the object to level be suggesting how far out of level it is. The level is only one foot, so if you are working with an object that is several feet long, the actual adjustment will be greater than what is listed on the vial. This is my favorite level when working with small objects such as drawers and drawer slides, as well as door adjustment with European hinges.

What is the weight of this item?

Asked by BigFoot November 17, 2018

I also bought the 48" which is about 2 lbs., the 12" is only a few ounces, about .5 lbs.

Great level
I've had this level for over 2 years and it's usually the first one I grab when I'm choosing between the three that I have. It's very accurate at all angles. It is lightweight and the magnet is a plus since it's not too strong. There isn't anything that I dislike on it so far and it does meet my expectations. Please hit the thumbs up if this was helpful.

Great Quality Torpedo Level
This is a good looking level and passes true in all positions. The "out-of-level" notches are accurate, but I would still double check against true-level if you're trying to pitch anything, just to make sure. The 45 degree tests true as well in both directions. My picture shows I'm just a hair off, but still on the line, of a piece that another torpedo level read as true. The magnet is solid, but not ridiculously strong, which is a positive.

Does exactly what it should do.
There isn’t a whole lot to say about a good level. When the level works correctly, the bubbles sit on center and the edges are flat and smooth. Out of the box, this level was exactly that. The vials are very readable, what with their blue lines and being embedded in white circles: easy to spot, easy to read. There are two handles that make holding the level vertically or horizontally very simple and less strenuous than gripping the level’s body. Weight isn’t too much of a factor either. An aluminum body is fairly lightweight, combined with the acrylic vials and rubber end caps there isn’t much to hold up. The removable endcaps are an interesting touch. I only noticed they were removable when I saw the small arrow on them. Pull on the arrow (which is the clip that holds the endcap on) and the end piece pops out. I’m not sure what you’d need that for, but I suppose if you damaged the rubber it could be easily replaced. I used this to help install a door frame and it worked well, certainly easier and more accurate than using a 4’ or even a 2’ level to install a door frame, which I have done in the past. I appreciated the rubber ends, too, so I wouldn't have to worry about it sliding around or scratching the hardwood floor over which the door frame was installed. The primary blue color of the level is actually a good choice. Among all the wood and the red and black tools of my garage, it stands out and makes it easy to spot when I’ve misplaced it! No complaints on this level, it works great!

Six Foot Long Level with Plenty of Features
This long level is made from aluminum and appears to be strong and sturdy. It claims an accuracy of .0005”/inch or half a millimeter over the length of one meter. There are a number of practical benefits with this level; there is a hole to hang the level when not in use, the vials are solid blocks of acrylic, the two outer vials are surrounded by rubber grips, handy for when the level is used on its side, there are two large grip holes and the edges are milled to provide grip. The high contrast e-band vials are generally easy to read but some backgrounds can make it a bit more difficult. The shock absorbing end caps work well and soak up a lot of the residual bounce – see video.

I love this level; from the moment I first picked it up, it has a nice weight to it and I knew that it's built well and solid. So I have no worries of it breaking. The vials are true blue which makes it easier to see the contrasting bubble inside even from some distance away; the bubbles are very accurate. I like that it has a choice of 4 vials which enables to check the leveling at the different angles. Good to know it's made in USA; I'm sick and tired of buying things made in China. I have used this level to hang a glass shelf above the A/C unit in my living room. Will use it again to install shelving in the kitchen and bathroom. Perfect!

Handy for medium size block wall construction
Grabbed this level for individual block level checks as I built a 60+ foot long retaining wall and a firepit. Perfect size for my required use.
