It is important to mention that these standard levels are made accurate by human sight, no computer precision is involved. So, there can be human error/fatigue involved in their production. This is the third level that I have found that was inaccurate; one by Empire, two by Johnson. Checking accuracy is very easy and you can find YouTube videos on how to go about it. Levels should be accurate from the get-go, at least they should incorporate some sort of a computer precision test to each level in final production to remove any inaccurate levels from finding their way to customer’s hands. So, make sure you test them for accuracy in the store, or when you get home.

We use Empire levels in a masonry classroom for a public high school. We have used them for over 3 years. I am usually hesitant to write a review, however, these levels take a beating daily in a very harsh environment. They still have maintained a degree of accuracy without any issues whatever. Many of the levels have been dropped, banged around, and some have been in the water. They never fail to perform. If you are looking at levels, you can't go wrong with Empire.
