can these be used to grow raspberry plants?

Asked by Pat May 21, 2019

Answer

No. Technically you could grow them. Raspberries prefer a deeper bed than this provides, In addition they grow quite tall and you would not want them to start out this tall.

Could this be used without legs? I need this to sit on top of the basement window... Thanks

Will these hold up to the Hot Florida Summers?

Answer

Yes, we haven't had any issues with the pickers in the heat.

Would I be able to use this for Dwarf Blueberry plants? Thinking about putting two plants in this.

Asked by Mel June 1, 2018

Answer

Unlikely. Bed is not deep enough to support the root system of the plant. Blueberry plant is a perennial and root system will continue to grow beyond the capability of the tray.

Good Morning, There isn't a particular amount that this holds. I would suggest a big bag of soil and it is layered & mixed per the instructions that comes with the product.

Great product for what it is designed for. In 22 days I have a full crop squash & bush beans and a row of flowers. The main thing is to do everything the instructions calls for and you will have very good results.

Big easy not so easy
It looks like a great gardening product and the quality was good but we could not get the legs to fit into the holes. It looks like they were completely the wrong size period even with a rubber mallet there was no way to force those legs into the holes. So we had to return it very sadly. The other size of EZ grow Pickers which are smaller worked just fine so I got 4 of those instead

I purchased 5 of these and of the 30 legs (6 per box) had paint chips or scratches on them! Do I care? No, these are in the garden against a fence. If they were on a deck I would repaint them. Finding a matching terra cotta color is a problem ,, as I notice even for EMSCO! Here is a tip for all those folks who have problems getting the PVC pipe into the plant beds: use your saliva generously around both the insert and receiving side and twist left & right and put your weight on it to get it seated. (FYI, saliva is a surfactant that swimmers/divers put on their masks and plumbers and landscape workers use to connect the plastic to plastic/poly tubings or pipes.) I am a 73 y/o, 120 lb active woman who had no problem with these. Ya, a couple needed to be popped on the ground to get seated, but I did not have to get out the blow dryer to soften the pipe up as sometimes need with the landscape pvc tubing. One more thing for the company. $150 is way too expensive for this stuff. $119 or less would be attuned to its' value! I see it is made in the USA. The paint is shameful on the legs. Yes or No is tough until I check it's function. It took some doing to level them in my rocky sloping yard. I put speed blocks on 4 of the 6 legs so they won't tip over. Currently 2 of them have soil/seeds and a couple small vege plants and the drip/water supply hooked in. I wonder if it is deep enough for regular sized carrots.

We purchased 2 of these gardening boxes to show our 2 small children how to plant and care for a few small veggies. Be warned, the quality of these boxes are not top rated! The legs are cut PVC pipe that has been spray painted (un-evenly) orange to try to match the plastic box container. the grid inserts are not cut evenly to fit the boxes, and the container is standard plastic form. If you're not looking for anything special but soley function, these boxes will work.

This unit is well suited to grow and water plants. Unfortunately, the legs fit so tight that I had to use sledge hammer to get them in. The color of the legs do not match the planter and they had numerous scratches on all the legs because the maker used sheets of tissue paper loosely thrown in the box as packing rather than wrapping them with something more protective. Thus, the legs show the white plastic where scratched. So if we want it to look nice we'll have to paint them. This will get the job done economically but it is not in the class of the redwood planter with steel legs.
