I have never used or recommended Miracle-Gro soil. I am not sure as to their conditions for planting shrubs. A neutral pH will Not get you lavender flowers as the more purple flowers come from extra acidity in the soil.

I do believe this is a mischaracterization of our reviews on the Bloomstruck Hydrangea. Our plants do not have diseases or pest problems. All of our plants on our farms are treated regularly. There are plenty of reviews on this plant and on our company to ensure trust in delivery of healthy plants. We also have a 30 day guarantee as well as a full time customer service representative who is able to take any and all questions and concerns from our customers.

Endless summer Bloomstruck

Spray it with a fungicide and take off the worst leaves. I have that problem sometimes with my hydrangeas. I find that the ones that are planted in an area the gets bright hot sun get it the worst. They prefer shade/partial shade.

What soil PH provides the purple blooms?

Sorry, i forget the numbers, but acid soil causes the blue blooms. You can buy an acidifying additive (not a fertilizer) Aluminum Sulfate. They sell bags of acid stuff that'll make the soil turn the flowers blue, but it WON'T turn existing flowers blue. These bloom all season, though, so put it on at any time, and the next batch should be blue. You could end up with both blue and pink on the same bush. Worse things have happened.

do you prune plants?

Endless Summer Hydrangeas bloom on both new growth, and previous year's "old wood." This makes the pruning question much more foolproof. Endless Summer also seem to have much more blooms than do old fashioned H. Macrophylla aka "Mopheads." You can therefore cut back the bush after a couple years, just to shape. Cut when completely dormant, about a third of all the growth. It will put on a bunch of new green growth, and start blooming in Spring when weather warms a little. Then it will KEEP BLOOMING! You may cut for vases, or just to remove a branches that look weird. To ensure you get BLUE blooms, use Ammonium Sulfate, an acidifying product (many of them have a blue hydrangea picture on the package, makes it easy to find). Use according to directions, at the end of summer or fall, and this prepares the flowering cells for making blue flowers. YOU ALSO NEED TO FERTILIZE, as the acid stuff isn't a fertilizer. Not sure of the exact kind or elemental make-up, you might ask a nursery pro, or find articles on web. Someone mentioned Magnesium, which wont make them blue, but will encourage blooms (I'd be surprised if the Endless Summer will need it though). Magnesium Sulfate is Epsom Salts. That actually goes for fertilizing, too. Watch them and if you feel you arent getting enough flowers feed them some, and see what happens. Incidentally, if you do give them the acid treatment a little late (and you've seen teency brocolli-looking things in branch tips, dont worry. The worst that could happen would be a bush with some blue and some pink flowers at the same time. =^D Please note, the Endless Summer are true bushes, only grow bigger from branches. Old school Hydrangeas continue to spread by shoots coming up from the roots. You can cut those hydrangeas WAAAY back, but only do it in the very late summer, giving them a chance to put on new growth before they go dormant for winter. Dont fertilize, but do add the acidifyer in fall. (I live in a mild/Mediterranean climate; if it's very cold where you are, ask a local Nursery Pro for how to overwinter in your Zone.) Good luck! Be brave--have fun!

Could this plant live in a pot? If so how big would the pot need to be?

Asked by Madi August 15, 2019

So, I believe this shrub would be better off in the ground. I suppose you could be in a large pot but it might not bloom and they like a lot of water with mostly sun. Your pot would have to be 4' x 4' minimum and you would have to plant it at least a month before the ground freezes. They are smaller shrubs to use. Hope this helps.

Beside telling you yes, if I were you I'd call your county extension agent. I lived in Rochester (Fulton Co.), and the colder temperatures will give those hydrangea's a run for their money though I didn't try growing them. I live in Corydon,IN now, and what I can say is they'll need every bit of required sunlight, maybe more. Mine bloom, but not prolifically. Good luck.

Diseased Leaves
Plant arrived with Leaf Spots and a couple buds. I removed the affected leaves and sprayed homemade fungicide, a dew days later, fungi still raging and killing the buds and more leaves. I called but only get a machine. Very stressful.

Excellent
I was surprised when these arrived full bloom, especially since I ordered the small ones. They were well packaged arriving with no damage. I ordered 3, and they've been in the ground 1 week, all with new growth already. I look forward to watching these beauties grow.

Shipped safely and arrived in amazing condition. I transplanted them and they continued growing right away. Have one bud on each Hydrangea I purchased (2) in just a few weeks. The size was much bigger than others I researched online stating 3". The Home Depot shrubs that came in 1 gal. pots were very large and thriving. I am glad I chose to purchase from Home Depot and would do again!

I purchased several of these about 3 years ago and they have gotten HUGE with LOTS of beautiful blooms. And the blooms last forever...not just a few days. Everyone that comes to my house comments about how beautiful the blooms are. They get morning sun and afternoon shade. I fertilize them with Miracle Grow about twice a year. They are basically maintenance free. Just keep them watered well, especially the first year. The first year I used wire fencing to support the blooms until the stems got sturdy enough.
