The packaging does call out the Lifetime Guarantee. Lifetime Guarantee: Energizer guarantees that the enclosed light will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for the entire life of the light. This guarantee does not cover damage caused by accident, unreasonable use, or modification of the product. We will either repair or replace this light (at our option) without charge and reimburse you for your shipping cost if the light should prove defective. Call 1-800-383-7323 for return instructions. This guarantee gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which vary from state or province.

How do you access the battery pack, also how does the stand pull out in the back of the lantern?

The stand pulls out with great effort; one of the most aggravating features of this lantern. Try to pry evenly from both corners so not to twist or break the bottom bar. Accessing the battery compartment is easier. Lift the clear lens and you will see little slotted plastic screws. Use a coin or screw driver and follow the guides to open and remove the cover.

My fusion folding lantern turns itself off after 3 to 4 minutes of use. I have changed all 8 batteries but it will not

Great Lantern with adjustable, regulated output, takes rechargeable AAs
Generally speaking, I DISLIKE lanterns for INDOOR use, primarily because they offer too much glare. If you set one in the center of the room, your eyes are drawn to it, and then as your iris closes you can't see much else. However for OUTDOOR use, you don't have much of an option. The Light Fusion Technology of this lantern truly sets it apart. It spreads the hot spot (that produces glare) out throughout the light panel so broadly that glare is essentially eliminated. I really like the beam of this lantern! Additionally a BIG PLUS for this lantern is that it has a regulated light output. That means that it has circuitry to manage the power to the lantern from the batteries so that it will maintain the same level of light, a consistent level of light, until the batteries are depleted. Other lanterns get dimmer and dimmer as the batteries deplete and get crazy long run-times but at increasingly lower levels of light. This lantern also has a digitally adjustable light out put. You can set it at whatever level of light is most comfortable, with the consideration that brighter means less run-time, less bright means longer run-times. A friend wrote this.. "Runtimes on high seemed to come in at about 3.5hrs for 4xAA and just shy of 7hrs for 8xAA loads (under warm summer conditions with Alkaline disposable batteries). Lowering the light level just a small amount led to dramatic increases in runtime, so much so that I terminated testing because I got bored." Another poster stated that he got 20 hours on 8 high quality rechargeables. The 300 lumen output on high is absolutely believable, and as stated... consistent for the duration of its run-time. I believe that it has a 30 lumen low, and that it is very useable. In a survey, most people are comfortable during power outages in a room lit at 100 lumens, many are comfortable with much less (after their eyes adapt to relative darkness.) Considering that there are many AA battery chargers that can plug into a car's power port, and the fact that this lantern will run on rechargeable AA batteries or standard alkalines, this lantern is an excellent choice for weekend camping, or for power outages. I modified mine by adding a USB cable (by soldering it to the battery box) so that it can run from a re-chargeable power bank. IMO the product can be improved by adding a USB input. It runs fine on the 5 volt output of power banks. I picked up a cheap $5 (supposedly) 1800ma bank I tested the lantern on LOW and it ran for 14.5 hours before shutting off. It ran on high with a 3100ma bank for 3 hours. I guess I should test the run time on low. Overall, I like this lantern very much.

Innovative compact light. Self-standing
The lantern can be used whether folded or standing. The power switch is easily accessible in either case. The light provided is fairly bright and while it is not a focused beam like a flashlight it does provide more than enough light to illuminate a moderate sized area. The light is also dimmable. It can operate on 4 or 8 AA batteries (8 for brighter light and longer life) and includes 4 Energizer batteries. Overall, the lantern does its intended purpose well and seems durable.

Energizer LED Fusion Folding Lantern Power On and Dimming issues - Test
Energizer LED Fusion Folding Lantern Power On and Dimming issues - Test Note: this test was performed using a variable power supply connected on the top row ofthe 4-battery compartment unit as if using only 4 batteries. The test was performed by lowering and increasing the voltage slowly to determine when the Lantern and its dimming feature will no longer work. Power OFF to On Transition Test #1 - Max. brightness at power on test (power button press and release) Conclusion - Based on my test results, if the voltage drops below 3.9 VDC, the Lantern will not go on, which means that on a 4 battery pack, if each cell drops below 0.975 VDC, the Lantern will not go on. Test #2 - Dimmed brightness at power on test (power button press and hold to min. brightness) Conclusion - Based on my test results, if the voltage drops below 4.5 VDC, the Lantern will go on, but if you press and hold the power button to dim the LED's, the Lamp will go off. This means that on a 4 battery pack, if each cell drops below 1.125 VDC, the Lantern will not be able to sustain the Dimmable feature. During Power On Transition Test #3 - While the Lantern is operating at max. brightness setting (highest output light), the voltage is lowered until it turns Off. Conclusion #1 - Based on my test results, if the voltage drops below 3.85 VDC, the Lantern will go Off. This means that on a 4 battery pack, if each cell drops below 0.9625 VDC, the Lantern will not be able to stay On. Test #4 - While the Lantern is operating at min. brightness setting (lowest output light), the voltage is lowered until it turns Off. Conclusion #2 - Based on my test results, if the voltage drops below 3.15 VDC, the Lantern will go Off. This means that on a 4 battery pack, if each cell drops below 0.7875 VDC, the Lantern will not be able to sustain the Dimmable feature. Power Consumption - Max. and Min. Brightness Test #5 - Full Brightness - At 6 VDC, the current drain is at 640 mA initially, then it: - Drops to 626 mA ofter one minute; - Drops to 622 mA after two minutes - Drops to 620 mA after three minutes - Drops to 618 mA after four minutes - Drops to 616 mA after five minutes - Drops to 615 mA after six minutes - Drops to 613 mA after seven minutes - Drops to 612 mA after eight minutes - Stays at 612 mA after nine minutes - Drops to 611 mA after ten minutes - Stays at 612 mA after nine minutes - Drops to 610 mA after eleven minutes - Stays at 610 mA after twelve minutes - Drops to 609 mA after thirteen minutes - Stays at 609 mA after fourteen minutes - Drops to 579 mA after fifteen minutes - Stays at 579 mA after sixteen minutes - Stays at 579 mA after seventeen minutes - Stays at 579 mA after eighteen minutes - Stays at 579 mA after nineteen minutes - Drops to 547 mA after twenty minutes - Stays at 547 mA after twenty five minutes - Drops to 514 mA after twenty six minutes - Drops to 482 mA after thirty minutes Conclusion #3 - Based on my test results, the current drain starts out very high and it slowly drops. therer are some points where it make a sudden drop in current drain. Test #6 - Full Dimmness - At 6 VDC, the current drain is at 32 mA and stays between 32 and 31 mA for the next thirty minutes. Conclusion #4 - Based on my test results, The difference in running the Lantern a full brightness and at at full dimmmness make a very big diffrence in the current drain. Also, when fully dimmed, the current drain is very stable. Final Conclusion: This Lantern tends to draw lots of current (from 640 mA to 482 mA after 30 min.) at maximum intensity which will cause the battery to drain fast. Also the fact that it turns off when the batteries are at 0.9625 VDC (almost at 1 VDC), it does not give you much time. Two things; The circuit should have been designed to draw less power if possible, and they should have designed it with a lower voltage cutoff threshold so that it could go at a lower voltage before shutting off.

Never ever buy this!!!
I have had this for about a year. The performance of the light is fantastic. Unfortunately they completely screwed it up attempting to be clever. It turned itself off constantly. If you read the reviews most equate this to a Try Me Mode. There are instructions to disable this feature, but it simply does not work consistently. Save your nerves and find another light. Mine just went in the garbage. Hopefully my blood pressure will drop a few points.

YOU MUST FILL "BOTH" BATTERY COMPARTMENTS WITH "8" FRESH BATTERIES BEFORE IT WILL WORK PROPERLY. ...
YOU MUST FILL "BOTH" BATTERY COMPARTMENTS WITH "8" FRESH BATTERIES BEFORE IT WILL WORK PROPERLY. THE PACKAGING STATES THIS LANTERN CAN BE USED WITH ONLY 4 OR 8 BATTERIES, BUT THIS INFORMATION IS FALSE. THIS LED LANTERN WILL NOT WORK CORRECTLY WHEN USING ONLY 4 BATTERIES IN EITHER BATTERY COMPARTMENT. IT WILL ONLY WORK CORRECTLY WITH "8" FRESH BATTERIES IN PLACE. I was like everyone else who bought this lantern and soon discovered that it would not turn on sometimes, or would not stay on for very long. Mine was acting very strange when I first tried to use it after taking out the 4 Energizer batteries that were installed in it from the factory. The packaging states to remove the batteries for at least 10-15 seconds to stop the "Try me" mode. But mine began acting very bazaar after I put the 4 factory Energizer batteries back into the lower battery compartment. So I removed the batteries again and put them in the upper battery compartment, but the lantern still didn't work right. However, after I bought 8 fresh batteries and installed all 8 of them in this lantern, it works like a charm! So don't give up on it, because it simply requires all 8 batteries to be installed into it before it will work correctly. The dimming feature works perfectly (it didn't work much at all using only 4 batteries) and the light from this thing is SUPER BRIGHT and it does not shut off by itself either when using 8 fresh batteries. I'm very happy that I put 8 batteries in it, because before I discovered this, I was almost ready to toss this thing in the trash can. Now it works perfectly !!!!! P.S. - I gave this lantern only 1 star rating so others who gave it only 1 star will hopefully read my solution to solve their problem with their lantern as well. Otherwise, I would have given this product 5 stars!
