The light should just glow red until charge is conplete..then it turns green..I have never heard a beep on mine.

NO. NiCd batteries have pretty much gone the way of the Dodo. I have an Eveready Model FCC2 from 1997 that charges NiCd. Problem is I can only find NiCd batteries online. So, I bit the bullet and bought the Energizer Recharge Pro which came with four AA batteries at Home Depot for about 20 bucks. Rechargeable batteries are initally pretty expensive at purchase compared to regular batteries, however, over the long haul they save quite a bit of $$$.
Yes, it just takes a little longer. Mfg. states that 1300-2000 mAh takes 3 to 4 hours for 2 to 4 AA batteries 2000-2400 mAh takes 4-5 hours for 2 to 4 AA batteries. AAA 500-800 mAh takes 3-4 batteries.
