Can you store wood in the space below the stove?

Asked by: Mc10538
YES! This is a wonderful woodstove and makes a real heating difference in our kitchen. The wood fits nicely and safely in the opening below the firebox. ENJOY!

How do you clean it with no ash drawer?

The product specs say no ash drawer is included. Doesn't that make it more difficult to keep it cleaned out?
Asked by: Parisa
You have to wait until the fire dies down somewhat and shovel out the ashes and coals.

Customer Reviews

1200 sq. ft. Wood-Burning Stove is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 110.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect stove for small spaces! I have this stove installed in a 10'x14' uninsulated offgrid cabin where temps are below freezing during winter. I absolutely love this stove. The looks, functionality, clearances and price are what had me sold on this perticular model. The air wash system is amazing! The glass stays crystal clear which allows you to watch the dancing flames through the ample sized viewing window. The blower helps circulate the heat. Low uses around 46 watts and high uses 95 watts. The sound is noticeable and slightly takes away from the peace and quiet of the warming fire ambiance. Turning up the sweet sounds of smooth jazz can elevuate this minor issue. I plan to use the blower only to bring the cabin up to temp from freezing to a comfortable temp of 78 degrees. I love that there is enough space on top to prepare a meal and heat water. I recommend reading the instructions to get you up to speed on how to operate this EPA certified stove as there is a learning curve. Great little stove!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent stove, better than I thought it would be. I like the lighter weight and shallow depth, compared to the old large stove it replaced. It was easy to install. We cured it with a couple small fires per the instructions. The first full fire up was impressive because the stove somehow seems to gently warm all over the place, not just near it, and that's with the fan off. The fan by the way pumps out some serious warmth. On the negative side, the firebox is smaller than I am accustomed to. Regular 16" cord wood is usually thicker than this stove likes. Split it again a second time, that would be perfect. Branches or wood of a 3" to 5" diameter would be perfect, and 10" to 12" works a lot better than 16". Actually, odd pieces and ends are perfect for this stove. It does not like green wood. The drier the better. With our old stove, 3 to 4 logs per hour was not unusual. With this stove, only 1 log per hour does the same job. I had a difficult time trying to get a ride to pick it up so I sent someone else and HD made it very easy. It was an excellent transaction from start to finish and after.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's a very attractive looking stove, but it does really... It's a very attractive looking stove, but it does really stink for at least a week or two as the enamel cures with the heat of the first fires. If you are sensitive to fumes/chemicals make sure you keep windows open while all the fumes are released, it is a very strong enamel/paint smell. Hadn't anticipated this aspect of a steel stove. Otherwise it seems to work really well in our 1200 sq foot home. The fire does not stay in all night so you do have to start over in the mornings. We have found burning enviro bricks makes very little ash so cleaning up between fires is minimal and easy without an ash pan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 4th winter with this stove and loving it. I installed this stove myself, including the straight through ceiling chimney. Took less than a day from unboxing to the first log burn. This stove keeps my 2 bedroom ranch including addition, nice and toasty. In the coldest months we try to keep it burning around the clock. Get a nice bed of coals going, then fill the stove to the top with firewood. Pull the built in damper all the way out and shut the door tight. You'll get 8 hours worth of heat easily. I will do this before work in the morning and when I come home 9 hours later, my house is 75-80 degrees and I have hot coals ready to start the next fire. I do the same before bed each night and wake up in the morning to a warm house and a bed of coals. I love this little stove. Proper 16" logs fit fine. If you purchase logs cut by a machine, you should be fine with length. Hand cut logs can vary and occasionally won't fit and will need to be cut.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I love the look and size of this wood stove.... I love the look and size of this wood stove. Pros: it has a big glass window, is light enough to put in place with two people, has a contemporary look, and easily heats my 750 sq ft home into the mid eighties. Cons: The fumes off of this thing are terrible. I broke the stove in properly and have had 30+ fires. For the first hour every time I fire it the fumes coming off this as so thick I have to open all the windows in my house and it's hard to breathe. It must be from the paint. The smoke vents properly, just invisible fumes. The fan has two speeds, loud and super loud. You also have to reach behind the wood stove to turn the switch on and off. The stove is hot and the back edge sharp so I have torn my jacket. Also, be careful loading this, the door latch becomes exposed when the door is open and it has melted a couple of my shirts. You also have to be careful as there is not much of a lip at the door opening so logs can easily roll out. You also have to keep the door cracked for the first 15 minutes to get a fire going otherwise it will not get enough oxygen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This stove puts out so much heat for such a small size. It’s not that heavy either. I will definitely buy this stove again!!! On the negative: Such a small firebox; the mfg. says 16” log size, but it’ll handle 17” fine. When I inspected it upon it being delivered, the inside top heat “bricks” were just lying on top of each other, which obviously wasn’t correct. At one point, they were glued in place due to the glue on the bricks’ sides and the stove’s sides as well. I called tech support and they told me how to position them. It took quite a while to get thru to tech support to find out how exactly they were supposed to be positioned. I’ll save y’all the time and just tell you here… The bottom brick lays flat on top of the heat tubes; slid all the way back-simple. However, as for the top “brick”… You’ll have to carefully stick your head inside the (cool, unused) stove and look up for the 2 steel pegs on the rear sides of the top of the firebox. Then observe the ledge at the top front of the firebox. The top brick slides in that ledge, and rests on the 2 steel pegs; it’ll be angled slightly up towards the rear exhaust pipe. To add, the firebox door will have to be cracked a half inch for 30 minutes minimum in order for the fire to “take off”. It’ll trick you after 10 minutes and you’ll go ahead and close the door thinking it’ll “take off”, believe me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Puts out some heat! This little thing is awesome. When it's cranking the flames along with the secondary burn are gorgeous. I'm new to wood stoves so I'm surely not the most efficient fire tender, but I can keep one log burning for about am hour before reloading. If you are a DIYer like me and new to wood stoves you might not know what to purchase for the install. Here is a cheat sheet for a through-the-roof cathedral ceiling installation and it's all available at HD: 6" DVL adapter to connect the stove. 6" DVL doublewall black stove pipe. Enough lengths to reach your ceiling with at least one telescoping section. 6" DVL chimney adapter with trim. 6" Duraplus cathedral ceiling kit 6" duraplus ss pipe to reach min 3' anove roof. Happy burning!
