Product Overview

Feed acid-loving plants twice yearly - Spring and Fall. Use half the recommended rate in the Fall application. If the area to be fed is mulched, it is preferable to remove the mulch, feed and then restore the mulch on top of the organic fertilizer. If this is not possible, double all recommended feeding rates. For new plantings: Dig hole larger than root of plant so that roots can spread naturally. Remove 1/2 of the soil and replace it with compost, peat moss or humus. Mix 1 cup of Holly-tone into amended soil. Place the plant in the hole so that it sits at the same depth it was previously growing (use soil mark on the trunk as a guide). Fill the hole halfway with amended soil. Pack the soil firmly, soak it with water, and allow it to settle. Finish filling hole leaving the top 2 in. loose for easy absorption of water. Make slight depression around the plant to help hold water. Add mulch to help conserve water, slow down evaporation, and control weeds. Keep well watered until plant is established. Note: Azaleas, Rhododendrons and Laurel are shallow rooted plants. Keep them mulched and well watered in dry weather. Do not cultivate near them as surface roots may be cut and the plant damaged.

You want to use elemental sulfur to lower your lawn. You can find it at many locally owned garden centers. It may take a few seasons to lower your PH to where you want it.

You should fertilize 2x annually --in spring and fall. Never in summer as it stresses plants that may be flowering or trying to survive drought. You don't want to encourage root growth in summer

Hydrangea, for sure, since it is acid loving. I was under the impression that passion fruit isn't especially acid loving, so not so sure.

It sure is, and it sure will. Be careful what you ask for, though: a happy arborvitae will grow like Jack's beanstalk.

I've been growing Bonsai trees for over 35 years. I've tried many of the expensive imported Japanese organic fertilizers. The Espoma products work, at least as well if not better! You can bet that I wouldn't use anything that I don't have a lot of confidence in on these wonderful old trees!

Azaleas & hydrangeas look great after bi annual treatment. Bought a house that did 0 yard maintenance. No flowers grew that year. Did a fall treatment then again in spring. The azaleas are popping, our holly trees actually have berries, and the hydrangeas are lush. Product smells terrible but it works.

Third time buying this fertilizer for my holly trees, azaleas and other plants and seems to be helping the bad soil I have giving some nutrients to soil and plants. Only complaint is that is a little expensive and has a horrible poop smell for days.

The best plant food of this kind I know.
I am enjoying about 30 bushes of rhododendrons and azaleas on my property. Years ago I started with just few inches tall plants which after two decades grew into large bushes. The growth like that requires good nutrients and acid soil. Holy Tone Plant Food takes care about both of them. When plants were smaller, I used Holly tone slightly digging it into the ground above roots. Because I don't not shape or trim my plants soon plants grew into the thick brush. I am still using Holly Tone Plant food, I just toss it over plants just before the rain, or if no rain, I hose spray plants to wash off eventual fertilizer dust on plants. For more details about use and ingredients see pic 1-4. What is nice on this fertilizer besides being organic, that the granule does not melt in the water quickly, so plants are benefited with nutrients gradually for longer time. Now I use this fertilizer pretty generously only at spring time. The bloom every year is rewarding. Besides azaleas and rhododendrons I use this plant food for few hydrangeas, magnolia tree, potted blueberries and other acid soil loving plants. All of them are doing great.

Great Fertilizer
I have been using Holly Tone Plant Food for about 2 years now. It was recommended by a manager at one of my local nurseries to help bring some spring flush to several of the bushes surrounding the foundation of my house. It did great last year after a very rough winter, and I will use it again this year. It was recommended that I use about a cup every spring and fall. I did that last year with wonderful success. So when I saw the 8lb. bag available at The Home Depot, I grabbed it immediately. I will definitely recommend it to any friend or family member.

Excellent Organic garden Food!
The Espoma Organic Hollytone Evergreen & Azelia Food for organic gardening is of ecellent quality. I used it on the pictured plant. Within just one week I saw healthy new growth and blooms. As it is a slow release fertilizer that breaks down gradually it has a long lasting effect. This organic plant food also smells great and is easy to apply. I highly recommend it for all acid loving plants.
