Does anyone recall if the blade/rear point had some kind of protection on it when receiving it?

Mine did not and looks beat to crap, Home Depot never fails to mess something simple up.

If there is not a plastic clam shell on our axes, they come with a wax over the blade edge to protect from the sharp edge.
