This is a slip joint, polypropylene plastic. If it were a "schedule" it would need to be made of PVC.

Sink traps are pretty much all the same or have been for a decade or more. The J-bend body of this trap is the same white plastic like most others. The plastic nuts that tighten the trap body to the adjoining plumbing thread easily onto the J-bend indicating that the threads are well formed. The big difference between this trap and the ones I have installed over the past 10 to 20 years is the material used for the washers that form the seals at the joints. These are a green rubber or composite that is softer than the typical clear plastic ones that have been in common use. While I have not usually had a lot of trouble with leaks, these should provide even better sealing. Three washers are provided. The outlet will use one of the 1-1/2 inch washer. Then you will select between the 1-1/4 inch or 1-1/2 inch washer at the inlet depending upon which size tailpiece you have on your sink. These are made to be hand tightened and loosened with extension tabs on the nuts 180 degrees apart.
