The flat bar supports the welded hinge mount fasteners of the engine bay door of a 1960 Cyclops replica. The additional material is needed to support of the vent panel cutout in the outer skin of the door. The finished door will allow hot air to vent out of the engine bay and the easy installation or removal of the door from one side.

I uses this to make 3" plates which I fastened to my garage cabinet drawers and doors. I then used Magnetic rubber name plates I ordered on line to label each one. That way if I choose to change them it's an easy fix. I needed the flat bar for a good magnetic bond. It's easy to work with. I simply mounted it in my vise, scored each side at 3" spaces with a hack saw, and then used long neck Pliers to break them off. Then a quick edge grind and brush on the grinder, pre-drilled the holes, and used a larger bit to counter sink them. Some wood screws and a finished product. The metal in the flat bar is better than the pre-drilled pre-packaged flat plates you by off the rack. Well worth the effort.
