what's the difference between sweat x sweat and cup x cup?

In this case The Home Depot has named their Everbilt product as sweat which is the application versus the fitting end itself. This is a cup x cup end connection. NIBCO wrot copper fittings are suitable for use in underground (buried) applications where allowed by local code.
