            These were raw wood, which was perfect because I got a hemlock pole to match, sanded both and used walnut finishing oil so they are a nice match, for the baby's room. I needed to shave down the 1'3/8" pole about 1mm with the plane, although a sander or a knife would have worked too. I'm glad because I was able to make a snug fit that won't rattle or fall out easily.
