Is this bendable?

yes, I cut it into 3 pieces and bent each piece in half to use as an extension on my gear puller. Worked great

How thick are the bars? And can you cut a 48" bar into 4 (6" each) pieces?

Asked by Chef June 2, 2017

Answers

Yes. My choice would be to use a cut off disk on a dremmel tool, slow but controllable for a fairly clean cut, an electric or air grinding tool with suitable cutting disk, or even a hack saw.

I don't think they come in colors but you could use spray paint for your application.

What would I use to cut this?

The thin cutting disc on a Dremel tool works surprisingly well, a bit slow but leaves a nice clean cut.

Will a magnetic strip hold on this metal strip?

yes this is magnetic.

Can it be cut to say 12” pieces and used to extend hanging garage shelves?

Asked by CanFix October 15, 2019

Answers

You can cut the Flat Bar. With that being said, we are unable to provide a response about your application. There are so many factors and variables that go into a project, it’s hard to say if a product will handle weight for a particular job. If you have any doubt or question about weight bearing qualities for their specific project, you would be better suited to consult with an engineering professional. If you are in need of a spec sheet for this product, Customer Care would be able to put you in touch with the manufacturer.

The product was good for the project I needed it for, it was overpriced, but I bought it out of convenience! If you need more than 8’ or so , go to a steel supply near you !!!

I was given a broken wheelbarrow. One problem was a missing the front angle bar, which was tricky to find. My original intent was to purchase solid stock and drill holes and bend it. I opted for this because, it is easy to bend, easy to cut, and there are already holes that I was able to use. In the picture, it looks like the bar is touching the tire, but it is not. If this is not strong enough, I will use two layers of metal. The cost was good, and it seems to work just fine so far.

I’m not sure where I’m going to use this yet but it will come in useful. I’m putting in a ceiling in my garage and need to modify the garage door opener and the door rails. I may use this as some extra reinforcement. If I don’t use it for that I’m sure it will come in useful sooner or later. It is handy to have a few pieces like this around for when you need them. It is not very thick so it would be easy to put it in a vice and bend it if you need to.

These 1-3/8 in. x 36 in. Zinc Steel Punched Flat Bar with 1/16 in. Thick by Everbilt aare going to be used to help support for storage shelf's in my tractor shed. The bar is very easy to bend and even at 90 degrees the zinc coating does not flake off. It also cuts with ease. Being they are zinc coated it can be used inside or outside. The punched holes are 3/8 inch in size.

Seeds Program Review
(What's this)
This material is convenient for making lightweight hangers and/or brackets. It is easily formed with hand tools and the zinc plating will inhibit corrosion (if care is taken to coat any cut edges). While not as thick as hot dipped galvanizing, the plating did not detach or flake off when the stock was bent at a ninety degree angle (see photos). The dimensions are nominally 1/16 inch thick, 1-3/8 inch wide, with punched holes of 3/8 inch diameter. The strap actually measured slightly less than a 1/16 inch (0.0625 in.), coming in at approximately 0.060 to 0.061 inch. The centerline of the holes is NOT centered on the width of the strap, being 0.715 inch from one edge and 0.660 inch from the other. In most cases this will not pose a problem. The three foot length is sufficient for making several small brackets.

(What's this)
1-3/8"x36" Zinc Plated Steel Punched Flat Bar with 1/16" Thick is a handy piece of hardware to keep around the house. I recently used this item to secure a leaning plastic shelving unit in my garage, by attaching it to a wall. I also used it to secure a pipe to a joist. Too many uses to list here. I also used this before to stake up sagging tomato plants.
