About how far in between posts with 4’ high fencing? I’m thinking one about every 5 feet or so? Thanks

When installed is this 5 ft above ground or 5 ft total - so only some 4 ft would be above ground?

1 foot deep is not going to work (especially in soft soil). You have to go at least 2 feet deep to make them hold up.
