Q:Is this simple 1 inch copper 90 degree elbow, 1 inch ID or 1 inch OD?

A:  Thank you for your inquiry on the Everbilt 1 in. Copper Pressure 90° Cup x Cup Elbow Fitting. Fittings are sized based on the piping they will fit, not the fitting dimensions. This is an 1 in. nominal fitting, so it will fit 1 in. nominal copper tubing. The OD of the tubing the solder cup of a 1 in. nominal fittings will solder on to is 1 1/8 in. OD.       A:  Not directly. Standard copper plumbing pipe is 1/8" larger than its nominal size. That is, 3/4" copper plumbing pipe is exactly 7/8" outside diam. On the other hand, 1/2" nominal size copper plumbing pipe is 5/8" outside diameter. Neither fit 1/2" OD.
