Questions & Answers

How can I attach chicken wire to my fence?

I have a dog that keeps escaping and I would like to attach the chicken wire to my fence. They are vertical, aluminum bars.
Asked by: Sleider
You can use tie-ties, or Zip Ties, this will allow you to tighten the netting to the vertical bars. Harbor Freight has these in large bags and they are not expensive.

Is this good to use to keep my terriers from digging under the fence?

Asked by: MsSilverlocks
I bought it to keep my larger dogs from getting out the bottom 2 sections of a rail fence and it works for that, except that if either dog was a digger, they could work their way under. The neighbor dogs have crawled under and I have had to anchor the mesh to the ground with long metal stakes used for anchoring tents. Problem is that the mesh is unruly when rolled out, and without stretching it over a frame, the edges are wavy. To do it again, I would have bought the more expensive and rigid welded wire type fencing 2 ft high so I could get it firmly and consistently attached to the ground. I did eventually buy some coated green roll mesh from my local hardware store that works better. It can be rolled out and managed much easier. Chicken wire is very unruly.

Does this keep rabbits out or can they chew it?

Backyard baby tree protection needed
Asked by: Cea
As far as we could tell, it kept the rabbits out. FYI, we were using it for sod and not plants.

1" is referring to the holes in the netting right? So in between the twisting metal is an inch

Wanted to make a small animals cage for my chinchillas & they like to clinb the bars in their cage now. As u can imagine they don't weight a lot so I'm just wondering how much support an I going to have to put in with this stuff or should I go to a bigger Gauge if they sell?
Asked by: Rj503
Yes, you have it correct about the 1 inch holes. I think it is certainly strong enough for your chincillas, I like it because it is so much easier to work with than the heavier material.
