    Answer This Question

A:  I don't know how thick the vinyl is to be able to hold the threads for the screw. The bolt is about 1.5 inches and if that would go through , it might work.

A:  To use this Gate Pull on a vinyl fence you would need to use metal screws. You may also need to use washers, depending on the screw head size.

    by|Jun 11, 2019

A:  The wood screws will work in vinyl if the vinyl is thick enough to hold them. If it's fairly thin, you will probably want to switch them out with through bolts (such as the supplied bolt for the bottom). Also, the supplied machine bolt might not be long enough and would also need to be switched out for a longer one. I hope this helps!

Looks great on the gate I built for my dog run! Had to use an extra screw I had from my hinge set for bottom bolt due to my desired placement.

I’ve bought this exact design gate handle over and over because it just has that classic wrought iron look that everyone loves. The handle is actually very ergonomic and virtually lasts for decades.

An elegant strap handle that gives an art deco industrial look to my patio decor. Easy to install, comes with attaching hardware and with the other Everbilt products I was able match all the hardware on my patio. Although it is a black painted Door Pull I expect it will last a long time.

        Nice looking handle.
I have used these gate pulls a couple of times in the past while doing fence/gate projects with neighbors and friends. They seem to hold up to the weather well if the paint finish is intact. If there are any scratches in the paint then there is a potential for rust to form. The paint finish seems relatively light and easy to scratch so be careful. As a Home Depot Seeds member, I received this gate pull as a promotion and could tell that this one had been opened and resealed previous to me receiving it. After opening it up, I noticed that there was a scratch in the paint finish towards the bottom of the handle. Only time will how long it will hold up to the Oregon rain. If it does not, they’re pretty inexpensive and I could just get a new one at the store or pull it off and paint it myself. These handles are made from fairly lightweight steel but are heavy enough to make opening and closing a heavy door or gate easy. One thing that is somewhat of a drawback is that the mounting hardware consists of one lag screw and one thru bolt with a washer and a nut. The lag screw is designed to go into something solid such as a 2X4 and the thru bolt is for something relatively thin such as a fence picket. This limits the location that one can install the pull without having to pick up another screw. My gate is put together with a gate kit which means the pull pretty much has to be at the top of a 6’ tall gate. The installation took less than 10 minutes.

        easy
Was easy to install I only needed a drill and wrench. Adds a little flair to my gate and is an easy to install item. Has a bolt and a screw included so that you can screw into strong support beam for a firm tight hold. Took less than five minutes and at a great price is a nice addition to my fence.

        Rugged formed steel handle
Rugged formed steel handle with a black painted surface that is free of burrs and sharp edges. This handle has a large pull area that provides enough space to easily grip the handle with or without wearing gloves. This handle is supplied with painted black steel hardware which includes one 1/4" x 1-1/2" [38mm] long lag bolt for the top mounting hole and one 1/4" x 1-3/16" [30mm] long machine bolt with one flat washer and one hex nut for the bottom mounting hole. I installed this handle on a shed door using 1/4" x 2" long hex machine bolts with washers and nuts because part of the door is hollow and the hardware supplied with the handle is too short to use with a door. Didn't give this handle 5 stars because not sure how long the thin coating of black paint will last with being exposed to the elements outdoors over time.
