The pump works fine, however the plastic tube remains full of water after it stops pumping. Is this normal?

Asked by: Heather
Yes, this is normal. In fact, it's a feature. There's a back-flow piece in the black water connecter sticking out of the top of the pump. Water is pumped through the tubing until the water level is low enough to move an internal float down, which turns off the pump motor. When the pump motor stops, the weight of the water in the tube (caused by gravity), pushes the back-flow piece down blocking the water from going back into other water tank. If the water remaining in the tube was allowed to go back into the water tank, the water level would push the float up again and cause the pump motor to run again. This cycle (pump, drain, pump, drain, ...) would repeat over and over again continuously and, eventually, the motor would probably burn out.

I purchased this everbilt approx. one and a half years ago and it quit pumping I took it all apart to look for plugged up hoses everything open the pump will not spin I even check the power source but the motor won't turn I think the motor is burned up the floats all work but not power the the motor what do I do next my basement floor around the furnace is flooded
Asked by: doubleclutch1
I had the same problem. The pump was a little over a year old and it just stopped working. I took it apart and figured out that it was the 50-cent microswitch powering the pump motor (Zing Ear G606). If I fiddle with the microswitch, I can get it to work, but the operation is inconsistent, so it's not reliable. I'm guessing this is the weak link in the pump and I imagine many of these pumps fail in 1-2 years due to this failed part. I found an exact replacement switch online, but I would have to order it from China and order a minimum of 100 pieces. Since I'm absolutely sure it's the microswitch (in my case), you would think I could just order a new microswitch directly from Everbilt. I just called them (after hours) and left a message. I'll let you know if/when I hear back from them. By the way, the 2-year warranty is practically useless. By the time you pay for shipping and labor, you might as well buy a new pump. This was one of the most expensive condensate pumps at Home Depot, so I expected it to last a little longer. If I can't get a replacement microswitch from Everbilt, I'm planning to replace this pump with a cheaper one from a competitor (at half the price). If the competitor pump dies in a year or two, I'll just buy another one (which is a better option than buying another Everbilt). It's unfortunate that paying more doesn't always mean you get better.

I punched out the unneeded PVC hole so I can see the level of water in the tank. If I see water on the floor, and the level is at the top, it's shot. I might just replace it every 2 years to prevent the mess caused last week when the first one stopped working.

I had to replace my pump last week and I am very disappointed with the bracket that holds the pump in place. It kept falling off. I would think a better bracket to support this unit would not be the poorly engineered. I am not sure I would recommend as the pump seems fine but the bracket is almost useless.

It installed quickly and worked without a problem from the start. The original which was from this manufacturer lasted for about eight years of continuous use. I am looking forward to similar quality. I hope this helps.

In the pastcI have biught several of these because it is the only brand my HD stocks and when I bought them I needed one right away. My experience with them is that they do a good job of pumping but. Do not lasr very long. Two AC seasons and then during the third they suddenly die.

I had to reconfigure the switch to NC to get the pump working properly. The diagram shows this setup, however, the instructions made no mention of this.
