Questions & Answers

Hi, can they be used as wall brackets for the outdoor unit condenser (96,8 lbs) in the mini split installation?
ByMay 24, 2025
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

"Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,While the Everbilt 16 in. x 10 in. Satin Nickel Heavy-Duty Shelf Bracket is rated for 600 lbs. *per bracket*, it's designed for indoor use with shelving. Using it outdoors to support a mini split condenser (even one weighing 96.8 lbs) is not recommended. Outdoor conditions expose the bracket to moisture and potential corrosion, which could compromise its structural integrity over time. For outdoor applications, consider brackets specifically designed for exterior use and rated for the weight and environmental conditions. Consult a professional for recommendations on appropriate brackets for your mini split installation. "

Can these be used to hold up a 3' corrugated metal roof overhang?
      ByJun 21, 2024
      1 Answer |
      Answer This Question

Yes, these brackets can be used to hold up a 3' corrugated metal roof overhang. The Everbilt 16 in. x 10 in. Shelf Bracket is made of steel and is designed to support up to 600 lbs. per bracket. Here are some key points to consider: - **Material:** Made of steel, which provides strong support. - **Load Capacity:** Each bracket can support up to 600 lbs. - **Compatibility:** Works with wood, plastic, or metal shelving. - **Installation:** Easy to install, but ensure you use appropriate screws (#14 x 1-1/2 in. and #12 x 3/4 in.) for secure mounting. For a 3' corrugated metal roof overhang, you would need to ensure that the brackets are securely anchored to a stable structure, such as wall studs, to handle the weight and any additional load from wind or snow. The max working load limit for the Everbilt 16 in. x 10 in. White Heavy-Duty Shelf Bracket is 600 lbs each or 1200 lbs per pair when installed onto wall studs. The shelf dimension is first. Although the design of the bracket with the cross support allows it to be used either way. There are 3 screw holes on both sides.

When using shelf brackets, do not exceed the listed weight load limit. Always use studs where possible. Any shelving or surface piece should not extend 2 inches past the shelf bracket.

                    Not square
These brackets are not square. Each one is slightly different. On some pieces the legs with the holes are bowed. On some it is obvious that they won't be square because the tab on the brace is not fully inserted before welding. Some were OK, but the quality is inconsistent. I returned the bad ones and bought some similar brackets from the famous internet retailer, which were just over half the price, consistently square, and came with good quality screws instead of the screws being an extra.

They are attractive and well made to support a deep shelf well. I used them to make a microwave shelf attached to my wall. The finish is nice and looks to be durable, The brackets can be used in 2 different directions. I used them to support a 20 inch deep shelf where the 2 screw holes towards the top helps secure it to a wall well, but for a heavier and narrower load, the 16 inch leg can be attached to the wall to support a heavier load on a 12 inch shelf attached to the 10 inch leg.

Very strong but make sure none are bent
I had 1 1/2 bundles of shingles, several paint cans and various other light weight items I wanted to get off the garage floor so I opted for the heavy duty brackets. I mounted 4 brackets 32” apart, totalling 8’. I used three 1/4” x 2 1/2” lag bolts per bracket and pre-drilled the studs. I mounted my brackets with the 10” piece against the wall. I used one 2x8x8 and one 2x10x8 boards side by side, this allowed the boards to overhang the bracket by about 3/4”. Then I screwed the top of the brackets to the 2x using three drywall screws per bracket and just snugged them up a little. The shelf feels like a fixture of the house, it’s rock solid. I hung from shelf in the middle of one of the spans and it didnt seem like the brackets winced and I weigh north of 200#. I wouldnt hesitate to put several hundred pounds on it if distributed evenly. Two things I would recommend 1) check the brackets for bends. I set a few of them on the floor side by side and compared them, making sure to get four that were the same. They dont really need to be perfectly square, they all just need to be the same shape/angle so the board will flat. 2) I would highly recommend lag bolts. 1/4” bolts fit through the holes (I’m not sure on the smaller ones though) and I was able to get a 1/4” electric impact in there and drive all 3 bolts without a problem. If you dont have an impact I’d still recommend using a lag bolt and using ratchet. I could certainly see how driving a large phillips head screw would be difficult because the holes are right in line with the diagonal support. Pre drilling will save you a lot of effort no matter what fastners you use.

Your crooked shelf will be able to hold a lot of weight.
At almost $9/apiece, you'd think they'd be square.

Excellent, 600 lbs rated bracket for a garage shelf.
The Everbilt 16 in. x 10 in. Shelf Bracket is ideal for garages or sheds for your shelving needs. It is very heavy duty, and well built, except for the fact that it has 2 different size screw holes. The Horizontal beam and vertical beam has 2 different size screw holes, which I could not understand why.For me, that is a negative aspect, since I was using 2 inch thick board for the shelf, and I could use same screw, if the holes were same. Other than that, the product is excellent. The plus point is that it is rate for 600 lbs, and I am impressed with that fact.
