It is about three times the density of wood, but compared to steel it is much lighter
It is not black ; it is a standard aluminum silver color .
since aluminum it will not rust. The surface will oxidize some but you cant coat it with a protectant or light oil to keep the bright appearance.
What specific alloy are you looking for?
I don't know the specific grade, but it is not heat treated aircraft quality, such as 6061. It is a softer, non-heat treated Al alloy for general use. It is still quite strong, just not as durable, and more easily scratched and bent than aircraft grade. I wish they would put the grade on all this type stock so we could know. I Hope this helps.
It's smooth aluminum, so I recommend at least 1 primer coat first.
This bar is very bendable, almost too-much so. IMO, your challenge is going to be finding a tool to make precision bends.
It's 1/2" wide. Yes - you can cut it into smaller lengths, but I recommend using a rotary tool for precision cuts.
Yes, easy, as long as you have the necessary tools
Its hard to find them not bent up
