Good looking, smooth-turning hinges with removable, but STIFF pins I’ve had good luck with Everbilt hinges and got this set of satin nickel Everbilt Smooth Action Operation hinges (1002 316 505). These are sold one hinge per package, so you’ll need three packages for a door. I installed these on a light weight, interior, wood 6-panel powder room door. They perfectly replaced the old 3 ½” tall, ⅝” radius brass hinges and swing smoothly. The only problem I experienced was with the removable hinge pins. After installing the hinges I attempted to tap out the pin with a hammer and nail through the hole in the bottom. I’ve done this successfully with many other hinges, but could not get the pin to budge, and bent two nails trying! I contacted Home Depot / Everbilt customer support and got a quick response explaining that because the hinges contain a heavy grease the pin may be difficult to remove. They provided a video demonstrating the same hammer and nail technique I used, but with the hinge NOT installed, and resting on a wood block. I confirmed this worked, but it defeats the purpose of easily removing a door by pulling the pins! The pin was a *little* easier to remove after this. They’re fine for a powder room or closet, where you’re not likely to need to remove the door. But if you’re installing on laundry room or bedroom door, where you might need to remove it to fit appliances or furniture, then I recommend splurging a couple more dollars and get Everbilt’s Ball Bearing hinges (1002 316 516) - the pins are MUCH easier to remove, probably because they have ball bearings instead of grease. I received these satin nickel door hinges the other day and installed them the same day. These door hinges are of good weight and the satin nickel has a nice soft shine to them. These door hinges give your door a soft smooth close. The satin nickel door hinges will give your door that updated look and a nice clean look that your typical gold door hinges don't. These door hinges also come with the screws and the screws are also in the satin nickel finish. Installation is very quick, easy and no instructions needed.

I installed these satin nickel smooth action hinges on the linen closet door on my master bathroom. I'm preparing to sell my home in the near future so I'm fixing and replacing everything the stands out. The current hinges appeared to have rust from the moisture of the bathroom. These hinges fit perfectly thus were an easy switch out with my old ones. The door opens and closes very smoothly and everything looks nice and new.

I have been slowly changing out the bright brass hardware throughout my 90s house to satin nickel. I'm not rich, no I do a few things at a time. Although I changed all of the door handles to elder-friendly levers, all the doors still had brass hinges. I received this pack of hinges and they were beautiful to behold! Since I was installing them on pre-installed doors, the change-out was easy and took just a few minutes, but the results are fabulous. I initially was going to put this set on my pantry door--the last door that can be seen by "company," but they have a security tab, so I opted to put this set on the master bedroom, since all my exterior doors are even more secure. I'm still not entirely aware what the benefit of the ball bearings is. I know that they opened easily and readily as I held them, but I haven't noticed any specific effect on the action of the door. Time will tell. Comparing the hinges I took off to the new ones, these are very well made and the finish is gorgeous. They fit perfectly, the holes lining up and edges sitting flush in the "grooves." They move smoothly and quietly. Highly recommended.

Good looking, smooth-turning hinges with removable pins We had the opportunity to install these satin nickel Everbilt Smooth Action Operation hinges (1002 316 485) “side by side” with a set of Everbilt Ball Bearing hinges (1002 316 516) on adjacent doors. Both doors were light weight, interior, wood 6-panel. Both hinges perfectly replaced the old 3 ½” tall, ⅝” radius brass hinges. Both designs have removable pins which are easy to tap out and pop the door off without unscrewing the hinges from the door or frame. Both 3-packs included 1 extra screw - a nice touch if you lose one! Both hinges worked perfectly on the doors with no discernable difference in operation, swinging freely, with no squeaks or creaks. There are a few differences, some of which can be seen in the side-by-side pics. The Smooth Action hinges are less expensive. The Smooth Action hinges have some resistance when just holding them in your hand, but felt the same once installed. The Smooth Action hinges lack the “security tab” of the Ball Bearing hinge (see pics), but this only matters for exterior doors. And, of course, the Smooth Action hinges do not have ball bearings, which are supposed to last longer without binding or squeaking. In summary: If you have a lightweight door where security isn’t an issue, the Smooth Action hinges will be just fine and save a couple of dollars per set, which will really add up if you’re updating a whole house! But if you have a heavy door or an exterior door with the pin exposed, the Ball Bearing hinges are worth the extra couple of bucks. Regardless they’re both good looking with quality feel and operation. I intend to get more to finish replacing the remaining old, brass hinges in the house.
