A: I don't know if the steel that is used in these hinges conform to ASTM or GB standards. I have them in my home for indoor use and they work just fine. The load that they carry is small to nominal & they are indoors so are not exposed to severe climate conditions. I doubt that most hinges of this type meet such standards. Sounds like you concern is somewhat overkill & unjustified unless they are to be used for very heavy doors or outdoors.

Q:The pin will not tap or pull out. How is pin removed by the customer?

A: Remove the bottom plug using vice grips and hammer. Hinges in the vice would help. Twist it and tap it and it will come out. Once the bottom plug removed, use a punch, long nail to push out the pin, clean it, lubricate it, and reinsert it.

A: In order to remove the pin the hinge needs to be in the open position. You can then use a hinge pin punch to remove the pin.

Was looking for chrome but found this finish to be more polished. Replaced rusty hinges in bathroom so I like the fact the hinges and screws are stainless steel. The only problem I had was one hinge was stuck with the lubricant as it had turned gummy and would only come off with goo gone (mineral spirits did nothing) and oiled. Now my door closes effortlessly.

Hinge pin is ridiculously hard to remove.

Based on others comments this isn't just me. During installation it was necessary to remove the hinge mounted to the jamb and place it on a vise anvil head to drive the pin out. It appears the hinge is manufactured with a bend in it somehow binding the pin in the last knuckle. I can only imagine this causing issues with installation and wear in the future. At this point in the project I am going to look for a replacement from another manufacturer and probably return the hinges.
