This relief valve protects well tank systems from pressure buildup. It is recommended for use on all submersible pumps or systems that build more than 75 psi. The solid-brass design meets federal low lead regulation.
Not for use with water heaters; this is not a T and P valve
3/4 in. male NPT x 1/2 in. female FPT
Starts to relieve pressure at 75 psi
Heavy brass with stainless steel control springs
Solid-brass design meets federal low lead regulations

Q:Can this be used in the state of Florida on your water heater instead of a expansion tank the code allowed this years ago but I'm not sure if it still does

Answer This Question
Q:I bought 659647000418 RELF VALVE and installed it on a new brass tee. The 3/4 inch male end fitted perfect. My question is... what do I have to do with the female open end of the relief valve? Do I leave it open or put a drip valve or what to do?

Answer This Question
A:Â You could connect PVC pipe or a hose to the drain side. You will need to use an appropriate adapter (1/2-in. female threaded) to adapt to your choice of piping or hosing.

A:Â I would suggest that you attach a pipe to the female open end of the relief valve, then run the pipe to an available drainage site. If the valve is activated, or fails, you want the escaping water to be directed to a deposit site (drain), to minimize the spillage.

A:Â These valves are preset to blow off if pressure exceeds 75 psi on your well system. Flow rate would be determined by size of line and amount of water in well tank. You rate could vary from 6-40 gpm

In stock!
Well pressure valve blew out, looks like it froze and cracked. Luckily home Depot had it in stock (last one) and was able to quickly fix.

I bought this valve to replace the old one when I replaced the leaking pressure tank for my well. The tank uses a brass "T" to connect between the well and the outlet lines and the old-style pressure relief valve with the stem that goes in the pipe can't be used because of the way the "T" is cast, so this style was the only option. It fit perfectly and the threads were smooth and cut well, so no problems with leaks (installed with Teflon type pipe thread compound). I've installed new relief valves in the past and they dripped from the discharge side as soon as I charged the tank but no problems at all with this one. The valve has been in for several weeks and still no problems, so I'm comfortable that it's going to be fine and won't hesitate to use the same valve on one of my other wells.
