This sturdy square tube is a good addition to my stock of steel for projects. It cuts easily with my metal cutting band-saw, but with a little effort could also be cut quite quickly with a hacksaw. Holes for fasteners can be cut with a drill press or an electric hand held drill. Alternatively it can be welded to fabricate almost any shape. If it is to be used in damp conditions it will need to be protected by painting with primer and topcoat.

I'm a bit of a fabricator and a repair person. I use this type of square tubular steel stock for building and repairing. I have a project to make to make some repairs and improvements at my cottage lake dock. This steel tube stock is relatively easy to cut with carbide blades and cut-off grinding wheels, or a torch. Also easy to weld and bolt together.

Great square tube for all kinds of projects. This 1/2" square tubing has a relatively thick wall for it's size and is remarkably stiff. That makes it great for building things where you want light weight strength. Honestly this is a commodity product but it lives up to all my expectations. I can think of anything I'd change to make this product better.

I needed a newell post for a short handrail in our kitchen. I had wood balusters and rail from the existing set up. I used a floor flange with Home Depot's 1.25" square steel stock. It was a perfect match. I screwed a 1" tall block of composite decking to the wood floor cut to the inside dimension of the post. All in all a very strudy set up. I'm happy with how solid the end post turned out.

The product is meant to be the half inch by 72 inch square tube but the one I have is one and a quarter inches by 72 inches by 1/16th thickness. A good, sturdy tube that has a host of flexible uses. Unfortunately this one is a bit bent on one side so it will only be used for behind the scenes jobs where presentation is not paramount. I like the finish as well and it buffs up easily.

Pig Roasting Equipment!
The steel square tubes were on the list of equipment purchased from Home Depot for a temporary BBQ set-up for a pig roast. We also purchased 12 cement blocks, 2 2X2 8' boards, and box of 3" drywall screws. My son-in-law assembled it all and added the cooking grates and the pig! After a delicious barbecue, all materials stored away for next summer, and you'd never know there had been a pig roast in my back yard.
