What size pilot hole do I need to install this 3/8" wood insert nut to allow it to grab..?/

Not usually found in a standard drill bit set but If the material is SOFT WOOD then you should use 15/32" drill bit. In a pinch, I'd use a 7/16"bit. IF you are going to secure it with EPOXY, THEN use a 1/2" bit. Be sparing with epoxy.
