Is this type k copper tubing
ByJun 7, 2024
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

Hello, this refrigeration coil is built to Refrigeration Tube standards, which is separate from Type K copper tube for general plumbing applications. Prior to starting your project, we recommend checking local plumbing codes to ensure all aspects of your project are taken into account for a long-lasting and leak-proof installation. We hope this helps with your project.

        Answer This Question

Hello Sall, this refrigeration coil was not designed with fire pit applications in mind, and as such we, unfortunately, cannot recommend this coil for a pool heater. However, The Home Depot does supply a variety of heavy-duty copper coils for a variety of applications. We hope this helps with your project.

Yes you can.As long as there aren't any soldiered joints in direct contact with flame or red hot charcoal.

              Answer This Question

Hi Pappy, we cannot recommend this tube being used for any other applications beyond refrigeration. If your project requires temperatures of 150-degrees Fahrenheit, we recommend checking local plumbing code for guidelines. We hope this helps with your project.

Will this work for a 3 ton central a/c unit.

                Answer This Question

3/8” is a common size for a 3 ton / 36,000 BTU liquid line, but the manufacturer of the packed unit and/or compressor itself often has specific guidance that depends on line length and height difference and compressor design.

Hi Adam, for this type of installation, we recommend checking local plumbing code and the AC manufacturer's guide for what type and size copper tubing will work for your needs. We hope this helps with your project.

can this tubing be used for a mini split heat pump line set?

                    Answer This Question

A mini-split line set has a liquid line, a gas line, insulation, condensate drain, power and signaling. 3/8” OD is small for gas line >6kBTU, lrg for liquid line < 18kBTU, but use manuf. size for proper oil return to the compressor in your system.

This is the second time I've purchased the 3/8" x 20' copper pipe from Home Depot. I used the first pipe to build a 14 MHz and 10 MHz, vertically polarized, magnetic loop antenna for my amateur radio transceiver and it worked very well with an antenna tuner. The antenna is 14 feet in circumference. I bought a second 3/8" x 20' pipe to build a horizontally polarized, magnetic loop antenna that will work in the same HF bands. After the horizontally polarized antenna is tested, I will combine the two antennas to build a single circularly polarized HF antenna with an RF switch to select either right hand circular polarization or left hand circular polarization. 73, KC1HTT
