Yes, if you place the hinge so it's on the inside of the frame (the frame as it faces you when you are standing in front of the door and pulling it inward).

What is the gap between the door and the jamb with these hinges?

Yes, if you install the hinge on the inside (house side) of the porch door frame.

Will these hinges work to replace a non-mortised slab door onto an existing mortised frame?

Only if you fill in the hole left by the mortise on the door frame. I recommend using a paint stirrer--they are just the right thickness for a lot of mortise hinges.

these hinges are amazing
First time homebuyer! purchased replacement doors for cheap to replace old doors. the mortises didn’t match up and these were amazing for that reason. they are more flush than old house hinges as well, so doors that stuck before are closing quietly without any rubbing. BUY THESE HINGES! we did have to chisel some of the mortise of the old hinge, but it was minor and completely worth it. also used these on a replaced closet door that didn’t have a mortise because it was a sliding door previously. these were perfect!

cheap and easy
Had a job to replace some doors in a very old house. The doors had to be cut and trimmed to fit so to save time I bought theses hinges. I didn't have to cut the door for the hinges to fit so this saved time and money. They are very easy to install anyone can do it with alittle time

Not Easy To Install At All
The installation of these hinges is a nightmare. It is far too easy to misalign them, as well as exactly which edge of the multiple hinge edges have to sit right on the door edge is very unclear. The instructions totally and absolutely suck including the video which is for installing a folding closet type door and not for installing a single full size door which according to the reviews here is the type of installation most are looking for. Looking at the video it is clear the part of the hinge that presumably is screwed to the door puts the screws awfully close to the edge of the door which is a very bad idea because the hollow core doors sold at home depot are extremely flimsy and are not forgiving when it comes to installing them. I regret purchasing this item and wasting time on trying to install them. They are definitely not for the DIYer who is trying to avoid mortise hinges.
