3 in. x 25 ft. flexible aluminum foil duct can be used in a variety of general-purpose exhaust applications. This duct is made of 3 ply aluminum foil laminate with a maximum operating temperature of 250 degree F. The 25 ft. of length allows for longer runs.

Ideal for bathroom fan and kitchen range hood venting
Do not use for dryer venting applications

A: Hi Tara, this product should not be used to exhaust a dryer. For safe dryer venting, it is recommended to use a flexible 4 in. diameter duct such as the BTD48HD. The 4 in by 8 ft semi-rigid MFX48ULXHD12 is also great option; it is a UL approved all aluminum duct and can be used for gas and electric dryer applications.

A: I used my foil duct for a bathroom exhaust. For a dryer vent I don't know local codes but I would expect NO due to this: The recommendations outlined below reflect International Residential Code (IRC) SECTION M1502 CLOTHES DRYER EXHAUST guidelines: M1502.5 Duct construction. Exhaust ducts shall be constructed of minimum 0.016-inch-thick (0.4 mm) rigid metal ducts, having smooth interior surfaces, with joints running in the direction of air flow. Exhaust ducts shall not be connected with sheet-metal screws or fastening means which extend into the duct. This means that the flexible, ribbed vents used in the past should no longer be used. They should be noted as a potential fire hazard if observed during an inspection.

A: There is no reason you could not use this for fresh air. It is safe. Most fresh air applications use solid pipe on metal but there is no reason if you have a small difficult space why you could not use this.
