The steel in this product is brittle. I predrilled all holes prior to bolting two PT 2 x 6's toge...
The steel in this product is brittle. I predrilled all holes prior to bolting two PT 2 x 6's together. At first I used an impact drill, then switched to a standard hand ratchet. These bolts would shear off when they were 3/4 of the way in. Yes, I used an appropriate sized bit and was not overzealous in installing the lag bolts. Out of 25 placed, I had six break off.

These were exceedingly weak. Everyone I tried to put in to a lag shield, ended up, bending and twisting. Didn’t actually use any of them. Very poor material.
