Answer This Question

A:  This lag screw has a Galvanized finish.

by|Jun 22, 2020

A:  The coating is a hot dipped galvenizing compound that inhibits rust. Beware of exposing the coating to flame as it can expose you to a toxic fume.

    Answer This Question

A:  You use a 1/2-inch nut driver (i.e., nut setter) or a socket to drive it. You can either drive it using a cordless impact driver or a ratchet.

      Answer This Question

A:  Please check with the manufacturer of the TV mount to confirm that this is the correct fastener to use for installation of your specific mount. The fastener could vary depending on application, location, and type of TV mount. The wrench to use when tightening this lag screw would be 7/16" or 3/8".

The steel in this product is brittle. I predrilled all holes prior to bolting two PT 2 x 6's together. At first I used an impact drill, then switched to a standard hand ratchet. These bolts would shear off when they were 3/4 of the way in. Yes, I used an appropriate sized bit and was not overzealous in installing the lag bolts. Out of 25 placed, I had six break off.

Break easy when installing. Made from low quality steel. I would purchase a different brand fastener from a different manufacturer.

These were exceedingly weak. Everyone I tried to put in to a lag shield, ended up, bending and twisting. Didn’t actually use any of them. Very poor material.
