This wrench was worth the investment in replacing two water heating elements. We used this together with a pipe wrench to loosen and remove the old heating elements (see pic)

A 1-5/8" hex socket for the "thin" hex-element is not an easy to find socket and costs way more than the $14 invested in my welded set-up because the screw driver thru socket holes did not work! I bought a 3/4" hole flat washer, 3/4" Hex Bolt and 3/4" Hex nut and assembled them. Then welded the Bolt Head to Washer and welded the Washer to open end of wrench with nut and bolt stem facing out and tack welded the bolt to the "Tall "Hex-nut. I put a 1-1/8" Socket on the "tall" hex-nut with a breaker bar and worked perfectly to loosen old elements (without loosening the hex-nut) and snugged up new elements.
