Questions & Answers

are the strips metal or plastic?

I bought it as a gift and packaging doesn't answer the question. The product is made in CHina and has no contact info

What are the measurements?

It says 64 inches but that would be over 5 feet long! It just doesn't seem correct
Asked by: Leonard
The product includes (4) 16" (distance between studs) which is 64" or 5' 4" which is a little longer than 5'. The height is 2". If your wall studs do not line up with the predrilled holes in the rack, I would suggest that you install a 1"x2" or 1"x3" board on the wall anchoring the board into the studs, then install the plastic strips from the kit onto the board.

Has anybody hung this on on just studs with no drywall? The screws on both ends would be centered in the studs, but I'm slightly concerned about the center screw and more concerned about having no support behind the piece. Thoughts?
Asked by: KC
The plastic is so flimsy that you really need the center screws between the studs to give it added support. You pretty much have to turn your wall into Swiss cheese to mount this thing.

There is no mounting instructions and the placement of the pegs and shorter pieces is unclear. I understand the mounting of the longer pieces and mounting either between studs using the moles and screws or mounting to a longer piece of wood that is connected to the wallboard and the studs and then using the wood screws. The small slightly angled pegs and pieces are not clear. The pegs do not appear to snap in either the holes along the bottom of the longer plastic strips or into the small pieces. The pictures on the box are not clear. They are too small to show detail properly.
Asked by: Shari
I have no answer for you, only sympathy. I can't figure them out either, and I'm usually pretty handy. Seems as though they should snap directly into the rails. But they are too small and fall back out of those holes. The other rectangular small pieces are a complete mystery to me. I sure hope someone resolves this, because I'd like to use the small pegs to hang my clippers and gardening gloves.

After 3 plus year plastic has become brittle and all four strips I purchased have either substantial cracks or failed completely and fell from wall. Weight load limits were not exceeded. Not a durable product. Will use hooks with strapping on a 1X4. Do not buy.

I was at first surprised to see that the backing plates were made of plastic, but there are plenty of screws to hold this in place and secure it to the wall and it easily holds all of the weight I put on it. I used this to hold long handled garden tools (shovels, rakes, brooms, hoe's, post hole digger, hedge trimmers, edger, and even more stuff) and I used ALL of the hooks (I even bought more hooks and a second set) so it is holding a lot of weight. A good way to organize garden equipment.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works just so-so It was easy to install. Works OK with some items but "touchy" with others. If one item falls it often takes a couple others with it. The texture on the hooks needs to be more sticky. I'm going to try what another reviewer suggested by putting thick tape on a spot on the handle. The pegs fit loosely & would need to be glued if you want to use.

One 16" strip requires 6 screws. You have to turn your wall into Swiss cheese to mount the thing. The reason is that the plastic is so cheap and flimsy, it will fall apart without all the screws. You cannot just screw it into studs. There are screw holes BETWEEN the studs. Even if you do try to screw the edges into the studs, the screws provided are not long enough to even reach the studs, and the holes in the plastic are too small for #10 screws. If you do get the thing mounted, it will not hold light tools with thin handles. Things like brooms and mops just slide right down to the floor. It will hold big, heavy items like shovels, but I do not trust the plastic construction to hold big, heavy tools .

It has some nice features with the hanging hooks and pegs, but the connection point between 2 when you string along is a weak point. Also, they only have screws for the plastic inserts, they should add screws for studs-I personally had a wood board that I added my own screws to mount. Works well!

Best features are the holes every 16 inches and that you can choose a size - 16, 32, 48, or 64 and go right in to a stud. Cons- metal hooks don’t hold well, can only use so may of them, and the other hooks are plastic which might break. Light duty only (broom, mop, etc), I wouldn’t trust it with a shovel.

This product may have worked well out of the box but after a while the rubber on the hooks got hard and slipery and the the base plastic got brittle and broke. The hooks wouldn't grip the tool handle enough to hold it and when it did the weight broke the base plastic. I DO NOT recommend these.

It can be used as one long set of hooks or three short ones. My only caution: if you intend to use it for anything other than hanging feathers, you'll need to make sure that each strip is either mounted to a beam or mounted with hollow wall anchors.
