While the product isn't expensive and seems to work for most reviewers here, I hate this product. It was used as a fix in one of the toilets of the place I'm renting. If you want your toilet looking like my attached image below in no time, this will give you the result. The shape of this toilet lever is awkward and the plastic part inside breaks easily. It's also ugly. It has no substantial weight, really bulky in shape and the finish gets destroyed for almost no reason (how much wear and tear can this really get on a daily basis, be honest!) There's plenty of better options out there that are a little more expensive but worth it.

Everbilt Tank Lever for American Standard 28 degree Cadet tank The item is packaged in heavy card stock with a clear plastic molded shell and has an oblong hole punched to hang on a post. The plastic shell is glued to the card. The installation instructions are printed in a typeface that is easy to read without magnification on the back of the package in both English and Spanish languages. The external part of the lever is about 8 cm long and wedge shaped like an isosceles triangle. It is made of plastic with a chrome-like plating. There is a molded pattern of concentric circles in the front face which gives it modern styling. The internal part of the lever is gray plastic with notches and holes along the length to allow adjustment of the angle of the pull chain to the flapper. The internal lever is 15 cm long x 1 cm high x 0.5 cm thick. There are 2 notches at 8 cm and 13 cm with a whole at the very end. The nut that threads on the shaft to fasten the lever assembly to the tank is made of white plastic and is about 8 mm thick. If you do not have the proper angle or bought this one by mistake you can adjust the arm by using a heat gun. I did not realize this was not the same angle arm as my original and was able to adjust by using the lowest setting ~430 deg F and applying heat for about 2 minutes to soften the plastic. (see pictures) In most cases you should be able to remove the old part and replace with this new piece without using any tools. The total time it took for me to perform this replacement was less than 15 minutes. This included time to find my slip-joint pliers because the plumber over tightened the original nut. During the installation only tighten the plastic nut using your fingers. Over tightening can damage the plastic threads on the lever shaft or inside the nut. In my opinion the quality of this product meets or exceeds the OEM version. This is the second Everbilt lever I have installed and would not hesitate to use another.

This product was an excellent choice for replacing my old toilet flush handle. It is lightweight, installs easily, and looks really nice. My old toilet flush handle was quite old and made of metal. As you can see from the photo it was corroded badly. The exterior chromed portion was pitted and dull. This repair took about ten minutes, and most of that was spent freeing the old chain from the crusty old lever of the old assembly. Once removed, the new assembly was slipped thru the hole in the tank, the plastic nut was spun on and secured, and the chain was clipped into the interior lever's slot. In my case the lever had to be shortened to avoid interfering withe the float assembly, so I snapped it off easily with pliers.

Great fit! This tank lever arm slants in towards the center so it doesn't get caught on the side like my other one did. It fits perfectly on my older model toilet. The chrome handle looks nice and is easy to use when flushing. Installation was easy. It just requires that you tighten the plastic bolt and attach the flapper chain to the arm. The arm has an option to be shortened as it has a cut point marked and is notched for easy shortening. It works much better than the one that I replaced.

This is second time I replaced a white plastic lever with this chrome finished one, which is also plastic but has a nice chrome appearance. The first one took about 3 minutes but this one took longer. I failed to note that this American Standard Cadet toilet has a concave front. That meant that I had to curve the internal lever arm using a heat gun in order for it to miss the front of the tank. The tank number in question is a model 4029 from 1999. That's been discontinued so this won't be an issue on most newer tanks on the Cadet, which are convex in front rather than concave. When doing this simple DIY job just remember to a) unscrew the retaining nut clockwise looking from the inside. It's a left-hand thread. b) Make sure the flapper chain has enough slack to seat fully. You can usually just note where the old lever was located on the chain and connect the new one at the same point. All in all, this is an inexpensive upgrade for the original white plastic lever handle but I wish it looked a bit more like the original American Standard. There might be a copyright or patent issue with that design. and that might mean it has to look quite a bit different. See pictures showing the tank issue & resolution.
