A: I think the hinges would hold that weight. What really would be the test is if the vertical support bracket will handle the weight. I would use stove bolts through the vertical support piece to fasten the hinges.
A: The back of the package says 50 pounds per hinge. So, if your gate is more than 100 pounds you would need to add extra hinges to take the extra load.
