Product Overview

The universal design of the PiggyBack Float Switch from Everbilt is compatible with various sump pumps. The perfection solution to replacing the switch for your sump and sewage pumps. Features a wide-angle tethered design and ideal for use in larger diameter basins of 14 in. or more.
  • Replacement switch for sump and sewage pumps
  • When connecting to a pipe or pump, the float needs 4 in. of tether to operate properly; it must be able to float into an upward position so that the ball bearing inside the switch makes contact to turn the pump on
  • In order for the float to operate freely, the basin should be at least 14 in. wide and 16 in. deep; if not, the float could become stuck on the wall of the sump basin
  • 8 ft. cord
  • Piggyback plug
  • Switch can be directly wired to 230-Volt control panels by cutting off the plug, see project ideas in 'Info and guides' for wiring diagram

This was purchased to replace one that I installed just 9 months prior, that's why I gave it 3 stars. I have always used this switch, also only switch available at my local Home Depot. I will continue to use unless this switch fails again.

Moved into a home I purchased and the upflush pump wasn't kicking on by itself. I plugged the pump straight to the wall and it kicked on. Info online said this was probably bad. I installed and adjusted it to fit the needs of on and off. It was a direct fit. I strongly suggest you test the on and off function while its still open so you can adjust it. I had to adjust it about three times to get it perfect. I used the zip ties (I had more) and electrical tape as well to make sure it stayed in place. So far so good. Very inexpensive fix!

Worked as I had expected. Plugged it in, positioned for the the best operating location in the sump and locked it in. Has worked flawlessly during our rainy April and May

    Does not float
Purchased this switch a week ago after reading the reviews. The Float DOES NOT float enough to turn the switch on. I could manually lift the float to turn my pump on. I 'fixed' it by adding a pool noodle float to the outside of the float. It now works great with the pool noodle. My wife's idea. :)

You need to be sure there is a tether point, usually about 4 inches. That is what causes the float switch to tip so the ball can roll down and activate the switch. If it is just floating around the pit, it will never turn on.
