Q:How do you remove the existing plug? I Removed the float cord nut to access the plug, but the existing plug will not budge without destroying it. This is for an everbilt sba033v1.

A:  I'd spray some wd-40 around it and let it sit. Possibly also heat it up a bit with a hair blow dryer.

A:  It has been a while since I changed my float but as I remember it the plug was very hard for me also.  I finally ended up drilling some holes in the old plug and it did eventually come loose.  But I had to be careful where I drilled and how deep I drilled.  I think I got lucky and my drilling worked but it was probably more luck than skill.

A:  After fully unscrewing the plastic nut, slide the nut up on the cord, and then grab the cord with pliers and pull the plug straight out of the housing socket.

A:  With nut removed, plug should pull out. If bad switch pull by cord. Careful not to bend pins.

A:  Yes, this is the correct switch for pumps that have a direct connection into the pump body itself.

Replaced float switch on my Everbilt SP05002VD Sump Pump with this part. I removed power from the system and uninstalled my sump pump. I had some difficulty removing the old float switch - it was really on there tight. After removal, the new part threaded in with ease and I was able to bolt it down properly. I had to use my old sump pump float arm to mount the new part. All holes lined up. I reconnected all pipes/ hardware and I powered the system. Then, I poured a 5G bucket of water in the basin and pump was working well. During a hard rain, the new float switch did get stuck. I was able to true up my sump by aligning the pipes/sump again and I adjusted the float switch height. After about a month with a few rainy days, sump works with no issues. The float switch works as intended, but I still have to monitor my system from time to time (no backup installed). Sump pump and float switch are from the same manufacturer Everbilt.

HomeDepotCustomer-I'm sorry to hear of your experience. Depending on how many years a pump has been in water, the switch may require more effort to take out. We hope you did eventually get the old switch switched out with the new one. -GP Support
