Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, These Whole House Systems are a simple filtration systems where water goes in and out, NO drainage is required, and the incoming water is filtered from contaminants according to the filter medias installed in the system. The Sediment 5M, Phosphate Filter 5M, and Carbon Block 5M, will decrease Total Suspended Solids, which are visible with the naked eye. However, these standard filters will not decrease the PPM/TDS (total dissolved solids) levels as there are many other contaminants that make up the PPM/TDS or total dissolved solids also present in the water, including microorganisms and contaminants smaller than .0001 Micron. Please Note: In order to remove PPM/TDS, our best recommendation would be either a Distiller or a Reverse Osmosis System as these systems are designed to reduce the PPM/TDS. Please do not hesitate to contact our office directly at (800)992-8876, Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm (PST) should you have any further questions or concerns. We are here to help! No loss in water pressure after installation. I installed a new pressure reduction valve ahead of the water filtration unit, tested at 50 PSI as well as 75 PSI and the pressure gauges on the unit indicated the correct pressure at both settings. Tested a hose bib at furthest location from water filter and still had 75 PSI.
I made sure the intake & outtake water in to the filter was the same...so as of 2 months and per the gauges on the unit, I haven't seen restrictions in water flow.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, While this kind of setup is possible, we highly recommend reaching out to us directly BEFORE purchasing, as custom arrangements and recommendations are possible. Please do not hesitate to contact our office directly at (800)992-8876, Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm (PST) should you have any further questions or concerns. We are here to help! Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, Thank you for reaching out to us. In regards to the Pressure Gauge not reading pressure, it is possible that the Pressure Gauge may have been over-tightened just slightly and is possibly pressed up against the o-ring inside preventing the water flow to the Pressure Gauge. If you could please loosen the Pressure Gauge by gently turning it counterclockwise slowly, 1 full turn, to let water flow through between the O-ring the Pressure Gauge and the dial should jump to the pressure reading. You may shut off the water to the system and with a towel on hand, proceed to push the Red button up to 3 times to help release pressure. Then you may proceed to loosen the Pressure Gauge one full turn counterclockwise. If you have to re-apply Teflon Tape around the Pressure Gauge, please only apply 4-NEW rounds of Teflon Tape upon re-installation and hand-tighten only please. If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office directly at (800) 992 - 8876, Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm(PST). We are here to help! Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, Thank you for reaching out to us. Unfortunately, changing the order of filters will not change the direction of flow to the system as the direction flow is set in the filter caps, originally assembled to go IN on the Right and OUT on the Left. Please Note: In order to switch the direction of flow in the filter caps 1. Please remove the pre-installed Pressure Gauges prior to removing the 12 bolts. 2. Please remove the (12) screws on top of the Metal Bracket. 3. Once all (12) screws are removed, flip ONLY the Metal Bracket in the opposite way 180° and place the (12) screws back onto the metal frame. Upon re-installation of the Pressure Gauges, please only apply 4-new rounds of Teflon Tape and please be sure to hand-tighten only. Please do not over-tighten to prevent damaging the connection. If you are yet to purchase the system, at the time of purchase, we kindly ask if you could please leave a note to seller of your request and we will gladly accommodate your request to switch the direction of flow. If you have already placed the order, please provide us with the Order#. If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office directly at (800) 992 - 8876, Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm(PST). We are here to help! I'm not the subject matter expert here. But, I think this system should be put in to the main water feed in to the house. So the hot water recirculating pump would be down stream from this system.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, Treating well water can be a difficult task to accomplish, as the levels and arrays of contaminants in well water vary much more greatly than city-water supplies. Due to this, sometimes a customized combination of filters may be required to filter water to your preference. To answer your questions, While the Heavy Metals unit will help reduce your nitrate levels, it will not provide any benefits in regards to scaling in your home; for that, you will need an Anti-Scale system (which include the Sodium Polyphosphate filter). If you'd like us to provide you with details for a single system to handle both tasks, please do not hesitate to contact our office directly at (800) 992 - 8876, Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm(PST).
