Have some of you tested TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) at the outlet?

Asked by Carlos January 21, 2021

Answer

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, These Whole House Systems are a simple filtration systems where water goes in and out, NO drainage is required, and the incoming water is filtered from contaminants according to the filter medias installed in the system. The Sediment 5M, Phosphate Filter 5M, and Carbon Block 5M, will decrease Total Suspended Solids, which are visible with the naked eye. However, these standard filters will not decrease the PPM/TDS (total dissolved solids) levels as there are many other contaminants that make up the PPM/TDS or total dissolved solids also present in the water, including microorganisms and contaminants smaller than .0001 Micron. Please Note: In order to remove PPM/TDS, our best recommendation would be either a Distiller or a Reverse Osmosis System as these systems are designed to reduce the PPM/TDS. Please do not hesitate to contact our office directly at (800)992-8876, Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm (PST) should you have any further questions or concerns. We are here to help! No loss in water pressure after installation. I installed a new pressure reduction valve ahead of the water filtration unit, tested at 50 PSI as well as 75 PSI and the pressure gauges on the unit indicated the correct pressure at both settings. Tested a hose bib at furthest location from water filter and still had 75 PSI.

what is the flow rate? will this restrict my water flow? gallons per minute.

I made sure the intake & outtake water in to the filter was the same...so as of 2 months and per the gauges on the unit, I haven't seen restrictions in water flow.

What are the pressures supposed to read after the initial installation?

Asked by Nick April 13, 2020
1
Answer

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, Thank you for reaching out to us. In regards to the Pressure Gauge not reading pressure, it is possible that the Pressure Gauge may have been over-tightened just slightly and is possibly pressed up against the o-ring inside preventing the water flow to the Pressure Gauge. If you could please loosen the Pressure Gauge by gently turning it counterclockwise slowly, 1 full turn, to let water flow through between the O-ring the Pressure Gauge and the dial should jump to the pressure reading. You may shut off the water to the system and with a towel on hand, proceed to push the Red button up to 3 times to help release pressure. Then you may proceed to loosen the Pressure Gauge one full turn counterclockwise. If you have to re-apply Teflon Tape around the Pressure Gauge, please only apply 4-NEW rounds of Teflon Tape upon re-installation and hand-tighten only please. If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office directly at (800) 992 - 8876, Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm(PST). We are here to help! Can I change the direction of flow by reversing the filters? My home set up has the supply coming from the left.

Asked by Nick March 30, 2020
1
Answer

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, Thank you for reaching out to us. Unfortunately, changing the order of filters will not change the direction of flow to the system as the direction flow is set in the filter caps, originally assembled to go IN on the Right and OUT on the Left. Please Note: In order to switch the direction of flow in the filter caps 1. Please remove the pre-installed Pressure Gauges prior to removing the 12 bolts. 2. Please remove the (12) screws on top of the Metal Bracket. 3. Once all (12) screws are removed, flip ONLY the Metal Bracket in the opposite way 180° and place the (12) screws back onto the metal frame. Upon re-installation of the Pressure Gauges, please only apply 4-new rounds of Teflon Tape and please be sure to hand-tighten only. Please do not over-tighten to prevent damaging the connection. If you are yet to purchase the system, at the time of purchase, we kindly ask if you could please leave a note to seller of your request and we will gladly accommodate your request to switch the direction of flow. If you have already placed the order, please provide us with the Order#. If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office directly at (800) 992 - 8876, Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm(PST). We are here to help! I'm not the subject matter expert here. But, I think this system should be put in to the main water feed in to the house. So the hot water recirculating pump would be down stream from this system.

Im on a well with high nitrates AND heavy scale. I can't decide between this unit or the heavy metal unit. Suggestions?

Asked by Vincent December 1, 2019

Answer

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, Treating well water can be a difficult task to accomplish, as the levels and arrays of contaminants in well water vary much more greatly than city-water supplies. Due to this, sometimes a customized combination of filters may be required to filter water to your preference. To answer your questions, While the Heavy Metals unit will help reduce your nitrate levels, it will not provide any benefits in regards to scaling in your home; for that, you will need an Anti-Scale system (which include the Sodium Polyphosphate filter). If you'd like us to provide you with details for a single system to handle both tasks, please do not hesitate to contact our office directly at (800) 992 - 8876, Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm(PST). So far Express Water 3 stage Anit-Scale Water Filter system has been a good fit for our family. We are on municipal water and up until we bought this system, we have a 1 stag particulate filter system...it helped -though I was surprise how yellow it would be in 2-3 months- but we still had a ton of scaling problems on our fauscets...so I step it up with this 3 stage anti-scaling unit. My neighbors have those units that cost $$$$$ and take up half of there garage but I just needed a system that help produce safe calcium free and clean drinking water.

I had my licensed plumber install it and he said it looked like a really good filter and was easy to install. Since installation I have removed my faucet filter and the water is exceptional right out of the tap. I have the anti scale model and I noticed the difference immediately. Everything was scaling, but now there is just fresh water and no scale. I have well water and I couldn't believe the size of the particles that were in my water and now being caught by the filter.

Just completed the installation of this filtration system. There were no leaks at the inlet and outlet as mentioned in other reviews. I suppose it comes down to an individuals ability to know how to properly install fittings into the plastic housing. After slowly filling the canisters and purging the air from system, I was delighted to watch this system come to life. I elected this system over some others due to some of it's attractive features. The clear stage one filter housing allows one to see how the filter is doing and validates the expense of the system. The 3 liquid filled pressure gauges are useful to help diagnose any future restrictions in the system at individual stage increments. The pressure release buttons on top are a nice touch, to make removing the filter housings easy. Even the frame is well built and attractive. With a 15 gpm flow rate, no water pressure drop was witnessed. Every thing except lawn sprinklers gets filtered water. Showers feel nicer and soap rinses off easier. A taste test of filtered vs unfiltered water is undeniable. When comparing filtered water to actual Poland Spring, there was no noticeable difference. Why didn't I do this sooner is my only complaint.

We could immediately tell the difference in water quality, we no longer had mineral stains on our glasses if we left water in them overnight and the water was clearer. Hoping this will also eliminate the need to replace the humidifier filter every month due to mineral build-up.

So, I have this installed about 2 weeks now, so far so good. It took me about 1hr and some Sharkbite parts to get it setup. The hardest part was to go from 1in to 3/4in pipe but after everything went smooth. No leaks but I had water sprayed all over the place when I pressed the button, should have been warned in the docs. Also, I had to tighten the filters with the wrench. The water seems good, no rings in the toilet yet. I think another reviewer said the same thing.

We purchased the Anti Scale, 3 stage water filtration system to help reduce the effects of very hard city water. It has made a noticeable difference in eliminating hard water spots and build up as well as eliminated the chlorine smell and taste in drinking water. Quality build, fast delivery and easy to install.
