Q:can this be use on top of contact paper?
by|Nov 17, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Glaze Coat would make a great top coat over contact paper, but to ensure there is a quality bond, first seal over the contact paper with a waterbased polyurethane. This will allow the epoxy to bond to the waterbased polyurethane without any issue. Thank you for your support of Eclectic Products and The Home Depot!

Q:When using the torch to remove bubbles, can you overheat the resin? How can you fix deep bubbles?
    by|Nov 11, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Bubbles in Glaze Coat can be popped by applying heat to the area. The heat will expand the air in the bubble and it will pop. Wave a heat source over the surface (about 6"-12" from the surface). The epoxy can be burnt, so don't over-heat the surface. The product self levels at 1/16", so bubbles should pop readily when heat is applied. Any bubbles that remain after about 20 minutes should be allowed to fully harden for 48 hours; sand these bubbles open with 220 grit sand paper, clean with rubbing alcohol or acetone, and repour the whole surface. Q:Can I use this over a water based paint?
      by|Nov 9, 2023
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  Glaze Coat is a great top coat for a surface painted with a water based paint. A smooth and even outcome may require two coats--keep the first coat thin and flood a heavy coat on the 2nd application. Thank you for your support of Eclectic Products and The Home Depot!

Q:Can you be used on a cutting board
        by|Oct 20, 2023
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Glaze Coat is a top coat for countertops and bar tops, but it is not intended to be used for serving or preparing food. It is not a food grade product and we would not recommend its use for this application. Thank you for your support of Eclectic Products and The Home Depot!

I tried a small amount to learn how to use the product first. I did not mix it for six minutes as directed so the product cured very smooth but dull. Towards the end of using the product it got very hot but the last of the mixture did dry into a high gloss. I am using the product to coat painted rocks. I will mix it better next time and hope that it doesn't get too hot to handle using latex gloves to apply it to each rock.

          Looks great! VERY temperature sensitive.
This stuff looks amazing! Perfectly clear and leveled really well. The one gotcha is that the work time is pretty short and very temperature dependent. If it is warmer than 75 degrees, you need to shorten the time you stir the mixture. It was around 80+ degrees the second batch I poured and it started to harden on the work piece before it fully flowed out. You can always sand or wet sand the excess away, but it was definitely annoying to have it not flow out very well. I had more success mixing two full quarts at 70 something degrees than trying to mix a third of a quart at 80+.

          Dangerous
I'm a builders daughter and have done just about every home improvement possible. THIS STUFF IS DANGEROUS! Followed the instructions exactly as it said, in fact my husband and I both read it thoroughly, even used a timer. We noticed at the end of the instructed time the container was very warm. As we got ready to pour, it started to boil! Boiled over and started smoking. I would not recommend this product what so ever!! Just wasted $80

            Worked For Me
I see a lot of negative reviews, so I had to drop my 2 cents. Product worked great for me. I watched 3 videos, and followed directions as instructed. Nothing left to say, if you use as directed, you will achieve results :) After creating my initial layer, I did use a cabinet roller for my second layer. I found this to help with spreading the coat evenly. Also taped my sides to hold all epoxy on counter until the end to avoid the drip issue with the edges.

              Worst resin I’ve used!
I’ve used several brands of 2 part epoxy All had some minor issues but at least there was time to work out imperfections. Not this stuff! Never had I worked with a product that required 12 MINUTES of stirring and work time of ONLY 10-15 minutes! I used a notched trowel but despite that, this crap left major areas where it didn’t self-level. After using up a 32oz kit over 2 flood coat pours, I opted for another brand that performed MUCH better! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS CRAP!

                Didn’t harden
Followed the directions exactly. After 2 hours it was still dripping off & ruined a $300 piece of butcher block it looked so bad

                  Process
Had good first time results. I coated a teak bar table. The mixing for 6 minutes, then switching containers and mixing for an additional 6 minutes or until the mixture reaches 90° took closer to an additional 20 minutes. Ideally where you do this project, the warmer the better. My shop was 65°.
