Can this be use to install upper kitchen cabinets ?

These are great supports and truly are like having a third hand. I'd say yes to mounting kitchen wall cabinets, especially if you are mounting them beneath a bulkhead that would provide the resistance necessary for the supports to securely lock in place. Just a note, the minimum height of these is 57". If that is higher than you intend to install your cabinets, Homer does market similar versions that are shorter and may better serve your purpose.

Is this available as a single rather than a 2-pack??

It is currently out of stock on the Home Depot online store but you can have Homer email you when they are back in stock.

How do you release after pumping in order to lower the bar? E.g. pumped too much and now rod is too high

So many uses. I bought them to assist with putting up my shower walls, but am now using them to finish my basement, hold a top plate up while I nail. Everyone who calls themselves handy should have a pair.

Does exactly what it says - in this case eliminated the need for 2 other people. I was able to install overhead trim on a garage door - 16 feet - alone.
