Questions & Answers

It will not go to one of the zones

I have had the unit for many years and lately it has stop going to one of the zones. I used to keep it greased, but I have since removed all grease and it still does not work. It is the 4 zone unit, but I'm running it with a 3 zone cam installed. I have taken it apart many times and everything looks good. Do you have any ideas? The parts do not look worn or broken.
Asked by: Gus
Make sure to use the correct cam for the number of zones in the installation. The 2-zone cam is marked 1-2, the 3-zone is marked 1-2-3, and the 4-zone is marked 1-2-3-4. Using a cam with less number of zones, i.e. a 2-zone cam in a 3-zone installation will cause water not to go to one zone all the time. Using a higher number of zones than required, i.e. a 4-zone cam in a 3-zone installation will not work either, because it will not activate all zones all the time. Besides, if using an irrigation pump, it can get damaged for having the flow blocked. Additionally, the assembly must be properly aligned as per provided instructions. Hope this helps.

Can I use zone 1 and 4

I installed and after I did it I noticed that I installed with out reding the manual and I close zone 2&3 im going to use 1&4 is that ok it is going to swith from 1 to 4
Asked by: vity
Zones are number 1, 2, 3, 4 with 1 being the one on the opposite side of the inlet, going clockwise. The two-zone cam connects to zones 1 and 4. The three-zone cam connects to zones 1,2, and 3. The four-zone cam connects to all four zones.

How do you control the timing for each zone. 1) Does each zone operate for a fixed length of time before switching to the next zone? 2) If so, how long does each zone run? 3) or is there an ability to wire it to a timer...which does not appear to be the case since I see no wires like you would see on a typical solenoid valve.
Asked by: fred
Every time water flows, a cam moves one step and switches zones. An external timer is required to start/stop the irrigation pump and control the time water flow to each zone. In case your irrigation system is connected to the water main, then the timer should actuate a solenoid valve, allowing water flow to each zone for the desired time. Water should start stop the same number of times as the number of zones used. For example if the valve is set up for three zones, then the water should start/stop three times to complete the cycle. Hope this helps.

Changing the four-zone cam that comes with the product to install the provided three-zone cam was very well explained in the documentation and easy to do. The removable inlet connection (not present in the old vale) helped a lot when it came to cutting and aligning pipes.
