I am looking to buy this oven FGEW3069UF. I am concerned with the specs and frigidaire does not seem to be able to provide an answer nor do they have a technical support team. Looking at the specs for 3069 the specs say 40 amp breaker is required at 240v. Connected load @ 240 is 4.5kw. Bake is 2.2kw, broil is 4kw, and Convection is 2.5kw. so if i add this all up it is 8.7 kw / 240 36.2 amps. this could be why they say 40amp breaker - but i will never use max power (Bake, Broil and Conv) at the same time. Power consumption max at any time will be Bake and conv @ 4.7kw which is 20 amps or Broli and Conv @ 6.5kw for 27 amps. If power consumed is never more than 30 amps - why do i need a 40 amp breaker? will my current 30 amp breaker work? I also looked at Model FGEW3066U D/F and that model has exactly the same specs for Bake, Broil , Conv but calls for 20 amp breaker????? Both spec sheets leave out details info and are different i get it but when looking at specs docs should be the same. the 3066 is more detailed than the 3069. If the load on both @240 is 4.5kw ( and not sure where this number comes from) is 18.75 amps and this may be why the rating suggested is a 20 amp circuit, but 3066 and 3069 are the same in the spec sheet.. Another detail in the 3066 spec sheet - it is written "20 amp minimum circuit required" - sorry but you cannot put minimum a circuit rated for 20 amps will trip at 20 and a 30 amp plug will trip at 30 amps - the problem is you can damage the oven waiting for a 30 or 40 amp breaker to trip instead of at 20. So my question is if both have the same specs - why is the breaker rating different? i want to buy this frigidaire gallery but not at the risk of burning down my house or the added expense of installing a new 40 amp circuit. Can you tell me what size breaker rating the 3069 requires, if the spec sheet rating is wrong, why its different from the 3066, and if the 3066 breaker specs at 20 amp is correct. And 1 more thing - if the max KW load rating for both ovens is 4.5kw - the NEC rating table for 20 amp shows 4.8kw, 30 amp is 7.2kw and 40 amp is 9.6kw - so the NEC table rating choice would be 20amps, not 30 or 40. Please prove me wrong.

Follow up after having this for 2 mos. 3069 is working fine and really looks nice in our built in with our matching microwave. Wife and kids are happy with features. Oven came packaged really well and secure. the oven was heavy to move. I could not remove the glass door after reviewing the instructions and moving the clips. Maybe was just me but door would come off so i moved it carefully. Oven fit perfect in the built in space and installation wasn't hard at all. the electrical pig tail from the oven was a little short - would be nice if they extended the wires about 5-6 more inches. For the electrical, I am using my std 30amp circuit event though frigidaire calls for 40amp and i have no problems nor worries. Mr Max 2 comments are accurate as have already considered what will happen if the breaker was undersized and have no problems with breaker tripping or wiring getting hot. The Frigidaire spec sheet recommends a 40a circuit. again, i did the math and additional research on the oven and it looks to me like they cut and pasted the 40amp rating from the double oven specs into the single oven specs. The single oven requires 20amp, then the double oven will be 40amp, thus the 40 amp rating. It will be up to the buyer to determine the correct electrical rating, and if an electrical installer is doing the installation, be sure to question the amp rating. If you want to put in the 40amp, sup to you, I did not find it necessary bc my math is correct and i didnt need the additional expense of upgrading the wiring and breaker. The frigidaire reply also suggest that both models require 40amps for safe usage. Wrong - the 3066 requires 20amp in the spec sheet, and i've already explained the 3069 amp rating. Having a 40amp circuit protecting a 20amp rated oven means - the oven will draw 2x the current rating max before the breaker trips open. By that time, damage to the oven electrical cicuits and wiring has been done. I am sure then Frigidaire will cover the damage under warranty.

Is the spec sheet incorrect in specifying 40 amps under "Electrical Specifications"? I believe this is a typo and the 40 amp spec is for the double oven model, but somehow was entered in the spec sheet for this single oven model. It can't possibly need a 40 amp (240V) circuit, so I would like to know if it needs a 20 amp (240V) circuit typical of wall ovens or a 30 amp (240V) required by some high-end ovens.
Asked by: Stan
Hey, Stan! We understand that the specifications state a 40-amp breaker is needed. However, we've reviewed this information over with our factory team and you're right, the 20-amp is the correct requirement for the wall oven. This information is currently being updated on our website and database. ~Courtney
