I wouldnt use thias product for that application. I thiubnk it would work best between 3 smooth. c;ean surfaces (not brick in this case). I'd use a polyurethane sealant like Sikaflex.

Ok for auto use? Resealing headlights

There's not enough information to answer your question. Auto use in general like body leaks, 'yes' great stuff. If you are talking about moisture getting inside a lens, the answer would be 'no'. You need to replace the headlight assembly. You may be able to buy a used assembly at a salvage yard.

can this be used to seal a pool light leak under water around electrical conduit?

It might work if the gaps were small. It doesn't flow like an tube-based caulking.

What is the difference between using this or silicone adhesive sealant?

butyl tape makes a waterproof seal by being compressed between two surfaces. Likely much better than silicone for the headlamp application where an adhesive would work loose due to movement.

Can I use it to fill cracks in a brick wall?

I wouldn’t. Butyl tape is sticky all the way around, not just on one side. It will just collect dirt and end up looking terrible. I would recommend a masonry crack filler.

Great value and quality, super easy to use. Used it to seal and affix plastic sheeting behind the door panels for weather-proofing in my 93' Miata. Just unroll and apply like tape, and use nitrile or latex gloves.

It’s easy to use and very strong. I used it so seal up a all metal garage i built in my backyard. The only problem is that Home Depot takes almost 3 weeks to get it after it’s been ordered. No excuse for that kind of wait time.

I used this butyl sealing tape to seal a leaking joint on an older camper. Rather than use silicone, that is generally dis-favored, or another caulking product that is very hard to remove, I used this butyl tape for two reasons. First, ease of application. If the joint does not come out well it is easy to re-apply. Secondly, because some other factory joints may leak, I can easily remove this butyl product which is located at the lowest point where water may accumulate and use a wet-dry vac to dry out the camper panel. The butyl tape then easily and quickly can be re-applied. Also, to ensure a good seal, I then apply Captain Tolley's Crack sealer to both edges of the butyl tape surfaces to ensure a final watertight seal, which also can be re-applied periodically, as needed. Also, the free shipment to the local Home Depot is a great feature and really makes this a very economical solution to my ~12 year old camper where monitoring potential leak sources is an ongoing maintenance and preventive maintenance activity necessary to keep an older camper in tip top shape.

For starters, it's not easy to work with as it will unravel easily and run away from you. Furthermore, I do not recommend this product as a sealant for light gauge metal corrugated roofs because the sheets will not seat properly in the grooves as the tape will resist being squeezed flat and leave gaps or deformities where the sheets overlap. Otherwise, this product may be appropriate as a sealant for heavier gauge metal or wood where good compression can be achieved.

used to seal the edges of metal roofing, so far no leaks! Rolls out nicely off the roll, enough tack to keep from moving but not so much you cant reposition it if needed. Easier to put into the ledge in the metal roof then flip the metal over onto the seam.
