This model will be back in stock at the end of the week. However, this unit is designed for occasional household use only, never commercial or industrial purposes. The warranty will be voided if the product is installed and used in heavy traffic locations. For something that will be used everyday I would recommend our LML model.

You will have to measure your floor to ceiling to get your ceiling height. The standard ceiling height this model works for is 8'2"-9'2" but you do have to option to remove steps or add up to 2 steps which would work up to a 10'10" ceiling height.

when the ladder is down what is the measurement of extension at the bottom

Answer

When you are on Home Depot's website on this product, if you scroll down to product overview on the right side of that is a little box that says "Info & Guides". In that box you are able to click on "Specification" and it will open up a technical spec sheet of this model, if you don't see your dimension on the tech sheet please contact me directly at service@fakrousa.com and I would be happy to help.

is this fire rated?

Answers

This model is not fire-rated, the scissor model that is fire-rated is our LSF model which is available in two opening sizes; 22x47 (model #: 66858) & 25x47 (model #: 66859). We do also offer another fire-rated model which is called the LWF, this is a wooden three-section folding ladder that is also available through Home Depot. If you have any questions please contact me directly at service@fakrousa.com

Answer

The way the ladder is designed along with the placement of the hardware this unit does not allow for wider treads. In about a month we will have the LST model available in a 30x54 size which will have 15" wide treads.

It is really easy to use and feels very stable and sturdy. BUT, going up the narrower stairs may be difficult for larger people (I am small and petite). It is well made and easy to maneuver. I am not happy that it went on sale for $75 less right after I bought it and when I asked for an adjustment they refused (online chat). Not good policy.

Was easy to put in. Had one person inside attic while two outside lifted it into place. We love it. Worth the cost as I put in a cheap article ladder in another spot and cost me more $ to trim it.

Very sturdy and well constructed. Much better than the cheaper aluminum attic stairs. Fit our use case perfectly as the landing area for the stairs was short. One Tip - The whole unit is extremely heavy at around 100lbs which makes it extremely hard to lift and position into place. What we did was remove the stairs from the frame first. Four bolts disconnect the stairs from the frame but leaves the spring loaded parts still on the frame. Once the stairs were removed it was fairly easy to lift the unit into place and then once secured just bolt the stairs back on. The unit is pricey but would definitely buy again.

Construction 5 stars. Insulation elements 5 stars. Prior prep before install, 2 stars. It is not clear the ceiling joist needed to be over 7.5 inches tall. Install 1 person is a no. Install with 2 people is a no. Install with 3 people, yes and can be put in place in 5 minutes. Too big an unbalanced to position in place with just one person on the bottom side. Instruction sheet is clever and concise but the colors are not easy to read
