A: Hello Robby, thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. Yes, any portable dishwasher could be turned into a built-in one or connected permanently. Plumbing skills or hiring a plumber may be required or at least recommended! From what I can see, leak detection is not being advertised with this product. A: Based on my research of other websites that sell this unit, the manufacturer does not recommend a permanent hookup because of the constant water pressure which may damage the unit. Not sure why HD is ok with that.

A: Yes. I replaced a failed LG (full size 24") with this. Elbow from any standard dishwasher install kit fit will fit this hot water input perfectly. I cut the end of the provided waste line (which is included with the Faberware) & clamped to the branch above the p-trap under the sink. Looped the waste line higher than the trap like a standard dishwasher install. You will have no leaks if you do it correctly & it will work perfectly. These small washers really blast the water in a smaller space & cleans the heck out of the dishes. And you can stack the dishes closer. Really efficient. I use liquid automatic dishwasher detergent--use less liquid for shorter cycles. Don't recommend Finish tablets or jet packs--too sudsy. Everything is so clean and I have NO spotting. Not sure about leak detection.

This is a highly rated machine but for us, not. Main complaints: quite heavy, seems bigger than I'd expected. And, mostly, the dishes come out with food still stuck to them, especially utensils. Unfortunately, the elderly person for whom I bought this trashed the packaging so now we are stuck with a big black heavy box. Back to hand washing.
