Questions & Answers

How many inches between the floor and the bottom of the side rails? How many inches between the floor and the bottom of slats?

Dear Customer, There are 6.5 inches between the floor and the bottom of the side rails and 12 inches from the floor to the slats. Best Regards, The Home Depot Team

Allie

What's the color? It's more like original wood color as shown in the product description pictures, or more like dark oak wood color as shown in the customer comment pictures?

I would say it's closer to the picture in the product description. Mine is more of an original wood color with a grayish tone. I wouldn't call it a dark oak. The bed not as lightly colored as some of the other "patina" furniture.

Diane

is this product made of solid wood or manufactured wood?

Dear Customer, Thank you for your question. This is made of solid wood. Best Regards, The Home Depot Team

I am looking for a very light color, would the Patina model match what's in the photo? Everyone is claiming the bed came darker than it appears in the photo. I see 2 choices, Patina and Walnut, I want to make sure the Patina is actually very light beige wood as in the photo.

Dear Customer, Thank you for your question. The patina is a light beige wood. Best Regards, The Home Depot Team

(What's this)
Fergus Patina Wood Queen Bed with Chevron Slats (61.18"W X 48" H) was easy to assemble and looks beautiful! The color is actually darker than the product photo, but we're fine with that. It gives it a more of an antique look. The directions were clear and precise, mostly drawings. The ten slats were connected together, two bundles of five each, with Velcro strips that adheres to the pre-installed Velcro strips that are on the bed frame. This makes the bed frame very sturdy, so the slats will not move, once in place. An included Allen wrench is the only tool needed. I used a cordless drill with a #30 torque bit, instead of the Allen wrench for faster assembly. This bed frame can be used with or without box springs. We're using box spring and queen mattress on this bed frame. See pics below.

(What's this)
This Ferus Patina Wood Queen Bed with Chevron Slats is pretty nice. The Patina finish looks kind of like weathered pine. It looks good in our room. In our 47+ years of marriage we’ve never had a bed with headboard, primarily because the head is against a window and there’s really no other wall we can use in this room. With no headboard, and only the window to lean against, it’s very awkward to sit up in bed. Anyway, we saw this and finally decided to go for it. This bed is very well thought out and comes with everything needed to set it up, including very good instructions. All bolts, dowels, and the allen wrench are well organized and marked on a cardboard backer with plastic holders and shrink plastic to hold them in place. Washers and the four side board to headboard nuts are in a sealed plastic bag. Dowels appear to be pre-glued to stay put when installed. All frame pieces are well-marked for placement. Every piece is pre-drilled with nuts installed for the bolts. The frame includes a square steel tubing center support rail with three legs made of steel square tubing which include brackets on top to hold them square and centered. There is a rubber strip on the top side of the rail, for the slats to sit on. Additionally, each leg has good plastic end plugs to keep the legs from scratching the floor, or cutting through the foam on sliders. The slats are bound with Velcro strips which adhere to the Velcro strips on each sideboard, preventing them from sliding around. The center slats are drilled to sit on dowels in the side boards. There is no way these slats are going to slide around under the mattress. Also, there are two adhesive strips on the slats to help hold the mattress or foundation in palace. Everything went together quite easily. Since our headboard is against a south facing window, I sealed all the joints on the back of the headboard with Lexel Elastic Sealant, and then applied a few coats of Polyurethane to the entire back side for waterproofing, and protection from winter sun. (We use evaporative cooling so windows have to be partially open, and sometimes our monsoon thunderstorms catch us off-guard with windows still open.) We don’t want to tuck sheets directly between the mattress and slats so we use a covered 4 in. high box type foundation (not box spring) with a 14 in. memory foam mattress. Combined with this frame, the top of the bed is fairly high (31 in.) from the floor. The frame is high enough to slide storage containers underneath. I’ll have to build 12 in. risers under the nightstands to bring them up to a usable height. Since the bed is on an area rug, we put furniture sliders under each leg to make it easier to move without putting too much stress on the parts. I just really wish that this was MADE IN USA instead of China.

Overall the bed is very sturdy, good quality, and good value. As mentioned by other reviewers, the slates are very sturdy and have velcro so that they don't move around. That said, I found that the left-hand corner of the end of the bed (where the 2 boards are fixed together) don't sit flush. The bed is still stable though and I haven't had any problems for about 3weeks. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. All the parts were well packaged. I thought it was best to have 2 people put together the bed because it is pretty heavy. Getting this bed was a lot of work for me because the first one I received had a couple of broken/nonfunctioning screws. I had to return the first bed and order a second one. Throughout the process, Home Depot customer service was wonderful and very helpful!

All my friends were surprised I bought my bed from Home Depot. This is a very well make and sturdy bed. It was easy to assemble even for a not handy person like myself. I made a lot of comparisons before I decided to purchase this bed. The actual color is a bit darker than shows online. I like the price and the quality too. It is a great buy.

Gorgeous and fairly easy to assemble. Took 2 people 45 minutes to build. The frame itself is simple yet elegant. Low to the ground.
