Thank you for your question, Craig. For stair risers, Fiberon recommends fastening riser boards to stair stringers spaced no more than 12 inches on center. Please note that riser boards are non-structural and should only be used as a covering for stair stringers. For complete stair construction requirements, be sure to follow local building codes and Fiberon's installation instructions. Instructions can be found at: https://fiberon.widen.net/s/c2schrfsv5/fib_pe_decking--fastener-instructions
Two clips are needed at every joist spaced a maximum of 16" on center. This is discussed on page 4 of the installation instructions. Details for installing approved clips and surface fasteners begin on page 7. We recommend carefully reviewing the installation instructions as the warranty is dependent upon proper installation. Please find the link to the installation instructions below. https://fiberon.widen.net/s/c2schrfsv5/fib_pe_decking--fastener-instructions
Thank you for your question. Rubbing alcohol or Goof Off should remove the writing on the board edges. Be sure to thoroughly rinse with clean water to avoid leaving any kind of film.
Thank you for your question. The grooved edge is for installing hidden clips. For more detail and information, please refer to the installation instructions: https://fiberon.widen.net/s/c2schrfsv5/fib_pe_decking--fastener-instructions
Thank you for your question. No, Veranda Stone Gray is not the same as ArmorGuard Costal Gray. Additionally, Home Depot is discontinuing the Veranda composite decking so we recommend checking availability of the Stone Gray material.
The maximum joist spacing when installing the deck boards perpendicular to the joists is 16" on center. If installing the deck boards at an angle to the joist then they must be spaced at 12" on center maximum. Please find the link to the installation instructions here: https://fiberon.widen.net/s/c2schrfsv5/fib_pe_decking--fastener-instructions

Painting the deck boards is not recommended as paint will not adhere well and it can void the warranty. That being said, the board ends can be painted for aesthetic purposes without voiding the warranty. Please keep in mind, the paint will need to be maintained as it will likely peel over time.
