Out of the box, everything necessary was included for an easy installation, even the bulbs. Installation was very straightforward, really encountered no hiccups at all. With just some simple handtools and basic wiring knowledge, installation went very smooth. Our only issue was that the ceiling box was centered with the room, but our table is off to one side. No problem though - they included enough wire and chain that we were still able to wire direct to the box and hang a decorative chain loop so the fixture hangs perfectly over the table. Very happy with the looks as well as construction of the lamp. The only thing that I will be changing shortly are the bulbs - nice that they included them, but they're halogens, hot and wasteful. LED's will be going in shortly so I won't care if the kids leave it on all day long.

I thought this was supposed to be a swag lamp. There is not much swag with just 6' of chain and 8' of wire It has to be hard wired so it must be meant for a small room especially if it's supposed to be inspired by the late 1940s when ceiling lights were always in the middle of the room. The shade is BIG almost two feet across and almost eighteen inches tall. The wire is covered with a see through almost orange coating that makes it look really cheap. It takes four candelabra base globes (60 Watt max) which provided very dim lighting at least in the room we tried to install it in. Not a fan.

Hi Edieb, We are sorry to hear that this item was not suitable for your project. This fixture is not a swag, and is designed for hardwire use. It is ideal for use over a dining table, dinette, and not necessarily the primary light source in a room.

This is a beautiful fixture. I love the brass finish its very matte and refined looking and doesn't have that shiny or cheap looking finish. Installation was easy and came with everything needed down to the wire caps. I have a low ceiling and did a install without any chain so it doesn't hang to low,see my pics - I like the look. It gives off plenty of light, I went with the max bulb size of 60 watts each, and the shade warms the light nicely so its not to bright. Although I love the warmth of the fabric shade I was a little worried about putting a fabric shade in a heavy traffic area so I ended up using this in a office. I think its a perfect fit for our home.

The Manhattan 5-Light Aged Brass Pendant came with 5 halogen bulbs (I was expecting incandescent). It wasn't as easy to install as I expected. The wires are not marked! I could not figure out how to cut the chain shorter -- the links are a very strong material -- so ended up twisting the entire length around again (not very attractive). I could also not figure out how to get the top flush with the ceiling. The wires prevented the final screw from attaching securely. Now my light looks lopsided. The pendant could look nice, but it will soon gather dust inside the shades (the tops are open, and bottoms are closed). I'll probably replace it with something else when I have a chance.

I replaced a brass and glass 5-lamp candelabra fixture with this new aged bronze 5-light fixture for a fresh look. I replaced the included 50-watt halogen lamps with dimmable LED versions.
Installation was easy. First mount the ceiling box post assembly for a dry run hang test to check length. I decided what height I wanted the fixture to hang at and added just enough chain to make it so. I love the quick-links for securely mounting and hanging the fixture They came aged bronze as well (nice touch).
Next I cut the wire cord and stranded bare copper ground wire long enough to have a service loop in the ceiling electrical box base. Next I threaded the cord and ground wire through the chain, base nut, chain hanger and ceiling tube mounted in the ceiling box.
Double checking the hanging height, I proceeded to wire up the fixture and secure the base to the ceiling.
The LED lamps push in. If you use halogen,bulbs be sure to wear gloves as you skin oils will cause the glass to break. These type of bulbs have a racket barb as you push then in, great if they hang upside down. Add the lamp shades, tighten their associated nuts. DONE
The specs on the bulbs I substitutes are: Dimmable G9 LED Bulb, 5W 450LM (50W Halogen Bulb Replacement), Warm White 3000K,6-Pack.
I felt now is the time to invest in the lamps as I will likely never replace them.
The fixture is bright, but with a warm color bouncing off the ceiling and showering down from the white fabric shades.
The box it came in was great also, foam fitted all items neatly wrapped to protect the finish and fabric shades.
