      A:  The packaging that came with mine says it was made in Finland for Fiskars Brands, Inc. Madison, Wisconsin. For its relatively compact size it is very effective when using two hands yet portable enough for camping. I love this thing. Tip: purchase the Fiskars sharpener to keep the edge like new, surgically sharp.

            Perfect for medium duty
            This axe simply murders seasoned firewood. I use this particular model to double-split larger pieces of pre-split firewood for a better firebox fit and burn. It also comes in handy on small jobs like cutting kindling and chopping branches. Well-designed, super light weight and the sheath is an added bonus as the blade is soft. It usually splits with one strike, and NEVER gets lodged. I haven't used it to split any full diameter logs, but I'd imagine it would work just fine, although the longer-handled models would most likely be better-suited.

              OK but no better than my old one
              IMO not as shock absorbing as wood handle. Splitting was no better than other hatchet I have. After seeing so many great reviews I expected this to be better. I prefer my old hatchet and ax,

                  It's a sharp and well balanced splitting axe for smaller jobs. I like the grio, too. I split larger logs with my big Husqwarna axe and then use Fiskars X11 to sllit them further. After one on the first uses the blade chipped and the edge partially rolled on an aged pine logs.
