Can this be used with vinyl tile plank type flooring?

Not suitable under LifeProof brand vinyl plank flooring sold by Home Depot. LifeProof installation instructions specifically states that no underlayment be installed under the vinyl tile except a wood or concrete floor base. Warranty is void if underlayment is installed under the tile.

Underlayment is good. However base shoe was a picture of wood which delaminared with a week in some areas and has continued for over 2 years. Went to Home Depot and was told 1st that they would only replace the pieces that failed and not cover the labor. This was installed in the entire house with no furniture. I'm 70 years old and already paid some to install their defective product. The 2nd thing I was told it was installed wrong. I have 50 years in construction, it was installed per industry standards. At height of our construction company we purchased 70K dollars in one year. Not another cent since this. Be very careful.

What do you mean by floating? I want to lay down vinyl flooring over a wood floor.

floating means there is nothing "nailed" to the sub-floor. You can use this product on top of wood flooring and laydown laminate on top, no problem there. But why would you hide wood floors with laminate?

can this be used with ceramic tile ?

You MIGHT be able to. What is the risk? While it is thin...it might not have enough compressive strength. It might flex too much under load, especially pinpoint loads. It might not be destributed evenly across the tile and because of such increases the chance of cracking tiles. Custom building products has a product for this but, it is very expensive. It's called EasyMat. It has the compressive strength to support tile while also being a sound break...again it is very expensive though.

A Pergo that already has an attached underlayment does not require another one. You may add a 6mil polyethylene moisture barrier if you are installing over concrete, but it is not advisable to use an additional underlayment. To keep your manufacturer's warranty intact, install as directed in the instructions that comes with your floor. You don't want to void your warranty.

This underlayment was very easy to install. Cutting to size was fast and taping together each roll was not too challenging. Having 2 people is definitely recommended when working with this product.

Went down very easy. I was a bit dissapointed in the adhesive which held the white backing down. It seemed not as tacky. Overall I was very happy with the ease of installation. The rolls were easy to handle and the system for connecting them together was clever. Once I got the hang of it the floor went down pretty fast.

Of the couple of underlayments i've used this is my favourite so far. The other underlayment was cheaper but had no longitudinal stiffness so it was hard to lay. This just lay itself out straight and is nice to walk on.

Easy to install, but you need to work carefully and slowly to line-up the seams. As it wants to roll-up, use pieces of your new floor to hold it down temporarily. This product is very expensive but I bought it as I'm trying to do a great job on a floor that should last decades.

Had to get over wrestling with this stuff, and also that you have to start laying this a right angles to what your flooring runs will be. (Means that you cannot lay in rows ahead of flooring rows - have to do the underlayment on the whole floor before starting floor layment :) ). Seams are not plug-and-play, but are acceptable (had to use some Duct-Tape in a few places). Cutting is clean (Scissors mostly - knife in some cases) 1200 square across 2 floors. Was an instructional and entertaining experience for my better-half and I :) ~ Jillian

We used both products as a sample project in a small room before we did the whole house. 1/2 of the room was FloorMuffler and the other half was brand X. We preferred FloorMuffler, it was a little quieter and softer.
